Olympus E-300. Bought it about a month ago and still trying to dial it in. Had an E-10 a couple years ago and absolutely loved it. Found a great deal on the E-300 and pulled the trigger. Great camera, has much more potential, it's just the shooter that is lacking:smile: :o . Takes a bit to get a DSLR dialed in.Quote:

only done a bit of hiking in the summer but I really like the Gore Range as well. I was staring at them at them from Copper that same saturday wondering why I never see TR's of the Gores when they're so close to populated valleys. guess they just get overlooked like you said. Great pics and thanks for the TR.

Yeah, pretty amazing that a peak in this part of the state hadn't been summitted until 4 years ago. The approach to the base of the peak is an 8-mile jaunt through the Upper Slate Lake basin. The peak has lot's of exposure and one of the narrowest and smallest summits around. I don't think you can fit more than two people on the summit at one time. "Airy" to say the least.Quote:

Your right on the AK feel. The gore range definitely has the steeps.
I found a writeup on the 2002 Peak T first ascent here, complete with pictures of the summit obelisk. Interesting stuff, although it has me wondering if Mike Garratt might have done it earlier, since he completed the 12ers (named or ranked) in 1994, and it seems likely he'd have noticed there was a letter between S and U. :)
