Welcome to the Mac world. I have never used any virus protection (not even the firewall) since I got a Mac laptop 3 years ago and I've never had a single problem.
That might change in the future but the Mac world is pretty safe for now.

Ok, now that's just stupid. Macs may be very resistant to virii, but they're definitely not hack proof. A firewall goes a long way towards preventing the latter. Why don't you just let someone into your home and give them the password to your computer while you're at it?Quote:

I didn't see it mentioned, but try and understand what is happening when you are entering your admin password during installs, file deletion, etc. If it asks you for your password, it's because system level(not user folder area) changes are being made and it wants you to make sure you know what you are doing.
