Wow Bakerbunny! nice pics!
Nice TR! Go maggette!
Now waiting for your TR from JH/Ghee. If you head down this way let me know.
It's ok Atrain. I heard that the rules are changing (or might have already) so that university graduates can immigrate here easily.Quote:

Saw you from chair 1 heading towards Pan and again heading towards Pan while standing above Snaggle. And I wasn't heckling, really. I try to keep the most embarassing tidbits of internal dialogue from sneaking out into the public.:biggrin:Quote:

I should do just fine in this area.
Nice TR, Baker has soo much cool terrain. Look forward to hitting it again soon.
Anyone going to Baker or WB during the week? I could use some skiing partners. Gotta take advantage of this not working thing while I can.
I'm going to ride wed, Fri and maybe thursday for a half day. Hopefully they get the terrain park on 8 up, I've got some unfinished business with that Gun rail from last year.
Maybe next year then fantsy pants? I promise to keep you off the blue squares and provide you with plenty of hucking options too. A little hike or some tight trees are where the deep stuff is. Hut tours are always fun too for those lazy days. ;)Quote:

After yet another suck season of zero snow at the Southermost Ski Area In The Continental United States, the Tucson Contingent (or at least this part) is heading up to Baker next week for 5 days, 16th-20th. My buddy (regular lurker) and I will get to the Mountain mid-morning on Thursday, we would love to hook up with a local or two to give us the grand tour and show us the goods. We have BC gear, are competent skiers, and probably wouldn't slow anybody down too much... Fiddler? Bakerboy? Does asking for change work at Baker?
Baker folk feel free to PM me, or post here, with suggestions on food, drink, lifts/runs/OB to hit. Thanks!
Tony
The forecast is not looking good for the fresh for the next 10 days:Quote:

Besides, I thought Sierra Blanca (Ski Apache ) was further south than ASB.
Sucks to be you guys.
I am headed up to Mount Cain tomorrow for some sweet b/c action. Plus the hill is only open on weekends, so there will be some pow left over from this week, YEAH!
Tony,
Give me a shout when things get a bit closer, I'm going surfing for the beginning of next week but should be back thurs/friday/sat to ride. I'll be stoked to show a few lines, you guys got BC gear?

If we get any precip before June monsoons, we will be lucky.Quote:

whatcomridaz - yep, got gear. Thurs/Fri/Sat would be awesome. I do have a buddy who will be meeting us from Portland, and he is w/o bc gear - is there a place up there to rent a beacon, etc, enough for sidecountry treks? I dont know the area, maybe it is too sketchy for that level of inexperience - although I am not much further along. PM me w/ a cell #, etc.
My freshly mounted Goats w/ Hammerheads are looking at me as I type...

The Glacier Ski Shop in, of all places, Glacier rents back country gear. Open at 8am. Great coffee and pastries on their deck too from Rebecca and Cort. It's on the left side of the road as you get into town. Glacier is about 18 miles from Baker.
Probably not a good idea to go OB without someone who knows. That won't be me but I can point you in the right direction inbounds. I hope to be up Sat and Sun.
The link Buster posted is the best place to check conditions, www.nwac.us.
Where are you all staying?
Yep, I will definitely not want to be wandering around w/o somebody who knows the area - Part of my reason for posting.
I will be staying at http://www.mtbakerbedandbreakfast.com/ - Seems like it is right in Glacier. Good heads up on the Glacier Ski Shop
Too bad about that high pressure, looks like maybe (hopefully?) some movement on the weather by late next week.
I'll keep this thread alive as I get closer to my departure date - Thanks for all the good info!
Tony
So your saying Mount Cain would be a better option than the GONG show of WB?Quote:

Wanna cruise up and do Stoneman on Saturday? Maybe take a peek at Widowmaker and see how it's shaping up on the way back?Quote:

Hey, BB -- you can't get to Stoneman by sliding sideways a few hundred feet from a chairlift. It is a different kind of BC skiing!Quote:
