Mantra is not a full twin. Sweet ski, but not what one would want if one wanted the ability to ski switch.
Keep in mind that seth is more powerful than anyone on these boards.Quote:

BTW- There have been multiple mentions of the Pros and if someone is feeling dangerously generous and feels like buying me a pair, PM me!
Oooh, oooh! Let me get right on that!Quote:

I'm about 195 lbs and the Vicious feels pretty good to me: stiff enough to bust crud and take speeds but not Viagra-stiff like my Legend Pros. Also, the SV are quick edge to edge for a 98mm waist.
GS, I haven't seen too many shops demo any twinned skis. Bratty bellevue punks take them into the parks and destroy them. Hard to demo any twin-tip ski.
Nah, plenty of shops demo'd the Pistol, Pocket Rocket, Gotama etc last year.
Maybe that is the case at Sturtevants in the city, but Rainier Rides (owned by Sturtevants) located at Crystal has an entire demo fleet of that goofy jibby spinny shit to test out.Quote:

interesting to know about Rainier rides, I didn't know about that (or that they were owned by Sturtevant's). I had actually stopped by the S store in Bellevue (and not for that gay rail butt-jam f00bar was talking about), and talked to their shop guys, and I guess the key to demo'ing viscii or other twins is to go through their reps.
Up to him, but it seems to me a lot of people in this thread are getting a feel for vicious stiffness from the FIRST year pistols. ya know, they have gotten progressively stiffer since then, and like was said they're tricky to flex in the store. Never had a chance to eyeball the ANT's yet. Also guess I need to go check out this Evogear store.
I'd thought Big Trouble might be worth checking out, however once I read they were bigger versions of the Troublemaker and then saw them in person today, yeah, wet noodle for sure.
!! trigger pulled !!
yeah i went ahead and did it. a new pair of ANT's are sitting in the corner of my room lookin all big n' fun. after great debate (both internal and external) and multiple flex sessions i decided that this was the ski that had what i was looking for. full twin, pretty stiff flex and a good length. really excited to get some snow on the ground and see what these things are all about. i'll be sure to post a review.
thanks for all the input n' stuff.
next question... anybody know where i should mount these? the mount mark is not totally center. i'm thinking about pushing it forward a bit (i liked my pistols at plus 3). just seeing if anybody has any sort of info before i go making holes.

Dude, if you like Pistols at +3, DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT mount the ANTs forward of the line. Armada's factory line is generall too far foward for many people's taste anyway. I'm quite sure most of the Armada team even rides the bigger skis a couple cm back of the line.Quote:

With a ski as burly as the ANT, too much tail is oging to kick your ass, unless you ride switch 50% of the time, but I don't know anyone who even comes close to that.
Also, I'd suggest measuring and marking where you want mid-sole for the shop that does the mount as I've seen lots of Armadas with uneven mount lines.
That aside, great choice. I want a pair of ANTs soooo bad, but just can't justify it as my quiver doesn't call for it at all. :frown:
thanks for that info. i'll be sure to measure before i drill.Quote:

Sooooo huge props to seattles alpine hut for sweet talking K2 into giving me two pairs of skis. and props to K2 for being super cool and hooking up a warranty on skis that in all reallity got beat by PNW's low snow year.
you could sell one pair to me....
heh
so now you have the Ants and a quadruplet of seth's on order? mix that shit up with some made'n's or somethingQuote:
