Thanks Zach. Tangentially, in another thread, someone mentioned they thought the Pivot 2.0 might have a different BSL than previous Pivots. If true, what’s the change?Quote:

Nope, 2.0 is the same as it has been. Some folks are finding that they're not sitting in the middle of the adjustment range when swapping from 1.0 to 2.0, but I've yet to confirm if it's due to previous mismount/maladjustment, user error, etc. I suspect there may be some people who had holes drilled with the reintroduced pivot (ca. 2009) and the old template, which required closing up the heel 5mm to get the heel holes on the right spot. There's plenty room for error there to account for folks not lining up properly in the heel. But new 2.0 mounts are spot on with the newest template and the black plastic one.
Fuck yeah! The tomahawkins templates worked for three oh four bsl. Needed to remount the SEs anyway. Now, waiting time for brakes!

Atta boy Arlid!!! So the tomahawkins template bsl length was spot on? I've done several test mounts but haven't yet checked to see if the templates were exactly correct for the bsl setting the heel piece right in the middle of the adjustment range. I've got a couple of buddies that desperately want to try the rc85 super comps; one of them is +10mm and the other -10mm so hitting the middle of the range would be nice
Should be, didn't really have to do too much FP adjustment before clicking in. Nice thonk, btw. Extremely reminiscent of the old PX15/18 in that respect. Probably for good reason.

Quick update for the sake of science. I piddlefucked around for a while with mounting rockerace clamps to land in the middle of the adjustment track, AND, getting the boot center on my mounting line - here's where I ended up. For my Shadow 27.5's (advertized 313 bsl) I used my look toe template and drilled it for a 305bsl. From there I used the tomahawkins rockerace template (https://github.com/tomahawkins/bindi...ce-bsl-315.svg) for a 315bsl and drilled that on the line. Ended up with the boot mark within a mm of the line and the adjustment right at deadcenter on the adjustment track. There are very nondescript adjustment range markers on the baseplate and a corresponding arrow on the heel; gotta look close to see it. Maybe I went over the edge on anality with getting this all figured out but now that it is squared away I can now mount with reckless abandon. Right now I'm pretty sure I'll be using rockerace on everything for the foreseeable future.
Put a pair of 15's on my HL RC85 Super Comps and I'm pretty jazzed on the whole setup. Rockerace might be the unicorn clamp we've been looking for. Super good shit.
^^^ why would the toe need to be mounted for a 305... Isn't the toe the same as the pivot/normal SPX?
Also, has anyone else noticed that the 12 version is marketed as GW compatible, but the 15 says no GW... Whereas the pivot says GW for all versions?

The SPX 12 and 14 use the full action toe piece, which comes with gripwalk afds only. The racers that SPX15s and PX18s are designed for do not run GW soles so there's no need for GW compatibility, plus the GW afd for the race aluminum (aka pivot) toe unnecessarily fucks up the ramp angle/delta of the binding. I wish the forum wasn't broken and I could load pics, Look has been testing split-wing toes for DH and SG on the WC again; they have a full metal 18 din toe that looks exactly like the previous gen spx14 toe since at least 2019, and a new version with more svelte toe wings. That shorter toe mount was needed to get my boot mark on the line. Somehow it seems like the boot center marks vary from brand to brand. That said, you would think that Look and Lange would have that nailed as they have used essentially the same toe forever. The shorter mount total length was just a refinement of the tomahawkins templates that he drew in CAD. He got it close but I was able to get the correct forward pressure centered in the adjustment travel. Something to play with if people want to mount rockeraces. Again, it might be different for another brand of boot as I'm not exactly convinced that stated bsl's are measured the same between brands......or maybe I'm still drunk?

It can be done. That is the old SPX race heel so it uses the shorter heel mount pattern than the regular SPX but not the super short one of the Rockerace. Most shops should have a jig for it. Pro move is to line up the holes on the race plate to the equivalent boot sole range and then drill. If you use the jig in the traditional way sometimes the steel band disagrees with the position of of either the toe or the heel and it binds.

My understanding is that you can take the older p15/18 heels off the track and put them on a rockerace track. I have all the shit (both p15's and p18's) on hand to confirm this myth but I'm too lazy at the moment to go out and check. Will report if I find inspiration.
I'd have to go play with mine as well.
Can someone who has rockerace bindings and who also has pivot 15s look at the toes on both and tell me if there's a difference?
Rockerace 15 says they are not GW compatible but the pivot 15 is and I'm wondering if the toes are actually different?

Current race toes and current pivots are the same, the difference is the afd that comes with. The pivot toe come with a grip walk afd, the race toe comes with an alpine/flat afd. If yoy jam a grip walk sole into the alpine afd the ramped part of the sole doesn't sit on the teflon slider part it sort sits on the plastic plate YMMV
