Ha! I know. I'd pull her out of school in a heartbeat, but Iowa is fucked, with new mandatory reporting requirements to the state for absences and Euro vacations aren't one of the exceptions like they should be, plus regs that won't allow kids to make up classwork from days missed which won't work for my straight A honor roll daughter. Plus coach hate. Sigh...
I have to live in our current reality. Trust me, if it was in the cards, I'd play my hand to hang with the mags.
Small chance I can get some days off and come early just myself. But logistics make that tough, and it would be asking a lot of my family, and I'd still need somewhere to sleep.
Still stoked. Maybe you all can leave us some leftovers.

A Euro vacation is educational!

Fall Line Forever, baby!
Could I be a contender in the headband, mustache, and rollies division some day?!

Wait, is The Kid stoned?
Fingers crossed the lines don’t get out of hand like they did last year.

Yeah, that was terrible.
Maggot fun on the pinball slots and East bowl on the lower 1/3 of the Gemsstock.

Der Leader alias_rice getting spiney above Andermatt Natschen/Gusch, halfway down the upper Gemsstock basin:
(Natschen/Gusch is the clump of lifts on the other side of the town of Andermatt from the Gemsstock tram, the start of the 15 mile ski back tro Rueras)

Give the leaders of the marketing department a raise.
I think it was Yeahman upthead talking about La Grave and Andermatt being hard to move between.
I think it is about 7hrs on the train from Grenoble. So you spend a night there and take a day on the train. The La Grave>Grenoble bus is dead easy.
Wish I could join you cats, but the family visit euro trip I'm currently on won't allow a second euro trip this winter. Will be following the grumbles shenanigans though. Having dinner with carvehard tomorrow night, which is cool!
I did it once with help from mulletizer. We skied in the morning, left about 12:00, made it to GVA Cornavin by 15:00, hopped a train and was in Andermatt by 21:00.
Another time I stopped in Chamonix en route and, I think the TSA had taken my cheez whiz away.
Disentis, 5 days after the last storm, accessible with a short traverse with 5000 vertical feet to go:

Yeah, well, how about we do a lap down the Giraffe this year?
Here's the entrance , dropping over to the left, straight ahead to Hans Im Glugg 4000+ vertical to the valley floor either way:

Who's in?
Van cram en route to another amazing day trip to killer skiing. Last year was Splugen, this pic is the St, Moritz day:

Yabba Dabba Doo!
Now I need to find someplace fun to go from 3-1 to 3-9
^^Nice, K2 is in. Dig it.
Buster - methinks that's the Lenzerheide day, en route to san Mo. Poor Michele got fucked on the parking fees, Dangitall. :cussing:
That was a pretty epic roadtrip day. Up and over the Julian pass?...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We had a deep snow day at Disentis, Gemmstock, and some of us at Klosters and St Mo. That was a weathery few weeks.
Any other repeat offenders this season? BobMc, MDay and Spancer, Mr.Mike, Charliedon'tsurf, Leo? Who else?
See https://www.tetongravity.com/forums/...95#post5641595 from 2019.
Yeah, cool day, Lenzerheide impressed me.
The parking sitch was off, vendul thought he had paid....
fwiw, I think it's Julier Pass with Bivio at the base, a teensy 2 poma touring center with 800 vertical meters and literally limitless touring options. vendul lived there for a while.Quote:
There's always the possibility of the Oberalpstock tour from Disentis . I hope I don't lose the group again, but the view from the top looking back at Piz Ault and Piz Gendusas was pretty swell.
Ah, so...
Those vans looked less well packed than ours. The 25 or so of us traveled like champs, even riding in the Chef's car.
And yeah, Julier, not Julian. Off by a short ways, over by Slovenia.
One of the most fun days raging an obscure euro pow stash with the grumble.
I splugen!
Sounds like Europe is adopting standardized carryon policies this Fall. The upshot is all bags for carryon and personal will be checked for size and weight. Still to be implemented, so keep informed as some bags that worked before may not pass the test and incur a costly baggage fee.
