That said, I'll reiterate that I'm more (and then only kinda-so) intrigued by the RC85. The RC70 is if I truly miss not having a hard snow ski this coming season. And if I do, I'll consider an order next season of the RC85 or 70.
It's been a while. I live in Japan now and hard snow doesn't really happen with lifts.
But, my offer does stand. If you all manage to get a production run of an RC70, I will send those pre-order peeps a bottle of sake from my local. Why? Because I love/appreciate small company innovations that keep the industry at their toes.
Do I think MO can make a carving ski the out-performs a Head in dampness and arc?

Not to be rude, but... It's gonna take a bit to convince me that an HL 70~anything is better than a HEAD ~anything for laying damp trenches.

This is a pretty steep order.
And I agree that I don't know why a flat binding (away from a rail or plate) would be beneficial for a ski this narrow for carving. I would fear a flat binding on a carving ski would have me booting-out.
And, I don't ski moguls. You're on your own with that. That's not even the same conversation, imo. If you are talking a mogul ski, I am 120% out.
It's gonna be hard to beat a Head, homie.
Sitting and thinking about this. I don’t think I would really want or need a 70. I don’t think my ability/style relates to it. I think the RC85 would make more sense but skiing at Alta the RC95 could easily be my most narrow option.
And for these reasons. I’m out. I do hope it comes to life though as I have supreme confidence in MO and his designs.
I’m not in. But to argue for it my main point would be the blossom factory if that’s where it will be made.
Like back in the day (super nobis and legend pro) race room stock solid layups but with more sidecut and more playful.
With brass balls. Winner gets a Cadillac. And maybe steak knives for second place.

So this ski is really Irip's brainchild, but based on our converations, the objective isn't to out head head or out volkl volkl. It is to offer something different in the space.
Construction-wise, we can absolutely deliver a ski that is very smooth and precise on edge. Shape and flex pattern-wise, the objective is to make a ski that is far less of a one-trick turnshape pony than the skis on the market currently. I doubt many/any have skied them, but the ~20 year old Salomon Streetracers were remarkable at being far more dynamic, while still having insane edge feel.
In particular, I like the ability to tune the feeling of the ski by selecting binding setup. Want something a bit more round and deep? STH2 16. Want to burl it up a little? Piston plates and Xcomp 18s. etc.
As it was Irip who intro'd me to Blossom in the first place, and was their importer for a long time, I am certain he has explored and tested their skis at length in this space...

I don't want a ski that's locked in to 1 turn shape or radius. I thought Volkl's 3-D turn radius sidecut was marketing bullshit but I can definitely alter turn shape mid-turn without releasing the edge on my Kendos. It's magic. But I was looking for something narrower for the tilted rinks we ski on most of the time in SoVT.
I don't want a ski that requires to be on my A-game (if I ever had one) every turn.
I don't want a ski that has a TR under 15.
I don't want a ski that's sub-70mm underfoot.
That's why I didn't buy a pair of Heads...I put a thread on SkiTalk asking for input with those parameters and all I got was Head (I wish). Seriously, they cannot think over there. They could not fathom why I wouldn't want the Head e-SuperShape (or whatever it is...). Even though that ski absolutely would not fit my desired parameters. Mostly they said I didn't really know what I wanted even though the parameters were spelled out for them.
Thought about the Deacon 72 but Irip thought I would overpower them.
So, if these skis can hit my boxes, I'd definitely be interested.
Welcoming ya'll into my headspace: I think the pendulum has swung a lil too far to the wide side & now has the opportunity to come back. Several seasons ago I designed a ski for (Insert TGR Brand here that shall remain nameless....) and was laughed at. The owner of the company told me that I would ruin his cred if he produced a skinny ski. I offered em 60K to produce a run with the stipulation that I own the mold and product. They could rent the mold from me in the future if the decided to press more. They declined, added 1-2mm to the build & sold out of the ski early in the season. Then I connected with Cyrus from Renoun and got the opportunity to redeisign the Atlas 80 - basic premise was a carvy ski w/ a freeride tip that would not deflect at speed once the piste was cut up. It skis well & delivered as designed - Yet Renoun wants to keep 80mm as the minimum width for now & has experienced a change of ownership. I'm currently doing some stuff with Original Plus - these are premium build Augment / RBVD pedigree skis that do a fantastic railing a la Head / Volkl, yet demand a committed pilot and have a highly prescribed radius.
Enter testing for the rc85, the tail is perfect for hi speed releases & slashes, the shape is refined thanks to MO & it rips! It's just a hair too wide for the technical skiing. Ergo the rc70. I see this ski as the low tide solution & at the same time optimized for being in a crossover boot. I don't really feel like dragging my plug boots out just to tear up groomers. I could see this ski going for pivoty stuff w. an AAAtack or Pivot binding or tossing a plate / lifter for higher edge angles. HL also has the ability to offer production runs of ~10 or so.
Additionally, I'm routinely coaching FIS kids & adults, so I'd like to have HL be showcased when I'm work'n. Think of it as the most un Austrian/Swiss technical ski you can buy!!
Well since this sounds a lot like an oldskool Merlin VI or AxisXP Pro (~17M, 70-78mm, 188cm)...I'm in if it you guys put in a piezo chip in it.

I can't find your skitalk thread but Deacon master 76 (and i assume the master 72 as well) are st00pid fun and shockingly versatile because of their super long/low rocker for such a racey ski. I don't know if irip was alluding to the regular or master version of the 72. I could use them in super chopped up groomers, soft moguls and even hiked one chute for some hot pow in early may with them. they weren't punishing given their insane performance on bulletproof corduroy and they could engage at medium slow speeds and vary turn shapes well. I’d happily buy some for a teaching/nerd ski. I want that sub 16m radius though. I have a set of Nordica steadfast 85s and love them, but I want something a little beefier build wise, and a little thinner
