Drove by this house yesterday and many times before, WTF??? I had no idea it was a missile silo. Curb appeal = 0

What is it that they say about silk purses and sow's ears again? Nice shop in the garage though.

Looks like a nice easy way to install a range hood.

Too much? How about this one for only $7.3 mill - but only 80 acres

Check out this sweet lego castle way up in the boonies (good B/C skiing close by!) Only 3.45 mill.

It’s not the style people want to live in now, but everything about that is more considered than the atrocities posted above.
The style is great. The budget is the problem. Here is one a little further up the road.

Only 100k in annual taxes. And that is on a 5.5MM assessment. Who knows what for insurance.
Of all multi million dollar wrecks here I see one interesting design detail. The exposed copper pipes for hot, cold and waste in the bath shower and sink in this image from 30 Cheval Cir, Bellevue, ID 83313.

Someone gets a small amount of extra credit in that the drain waste vent is designed to be part of the shower curtain frame. But the rest of the home is not pleasant to look at.
Soon to be torn down. Iceman slept here.
Evidently, FEMA remapped the flood plain, so despite never having been flooded, the county bought it.

This was our first house, generalled by wife and I while I worked full time. We fought hard for that place.

biggest problem of most of these is they didn’t bother to hire a decent architect, they hired someone who’d check boxes for them. For the same ballpark as that greeenwood, mn atrocity you could get this ($10.5million)

way better design.

Anyone know what this pedestal is for? Telescope? Rifle? Heliograph system for talking to friends on distant mountain peaks?

This is actually a nice place, obviously way over the top but the people had some taste. It was on the cover of Architectural Digest and has something crazy like a mile of waterfront. The main part of the foundation is from WW2, it was the site of a coastal defense artillery battery. Spectacular site but way too visible for me or most folks, you can see the place from miles away from most directions. You have to have some ego to build your place on a site like that.
This is up the road from here, they were asking about $20MM a year or so ago but I guess they didn't get it. https://www.realtor.com/realestatean...9-21664#photo7
Don’t know proper name of the device but it’s used for pinpointing locations. A map goes inside the circle. Used by fire lookout stations in the days before satellite and aerial observation
That’s kind of a shitty place to locate it though. Should be closer to the windows facing the Three Sisters, not the neighbors house (or maybe this is inside the guest house?)
Yes, late 60s probably Cosworth pre ground effects Indy car, like Graham Hill's 66 winner below. But, what's significant is the number one. Usually the previous year's USAC champion carried that number all year, so, this was driven by a winner, but I dont think it won Indy.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...064c7662c4.jpg
