November is my favorite cover.
And as one who only buys these mags at the "newsstand" I like at least some mention of features on the cover. I don't really care if a bit of snow or background scenery is covered by text... I'm not framing it. ;)
Also, I only buy them if more than one article grabs my interest. A "Gear Guide" is a sure way to make me put the magazine back down without another glance. (Incidentally, this very thing happened with yours at REI last Saturday.) I'm sure plenty of people must like reading about gear, but as a poor college student whose single-ski quiver has to last for 5-6 years, I don't really care.

December all the way. Winter blows - that type of shot has been played since the 80's on Powder. Wasn't too terribly impressed then, still not doing it for me. The two Tele ones blow - c'mon, is it all about the air for a BC mag? Nah, it's all about the turn and the pow - December captures it.
If I want air, I'll pull Trackhead's finger or head to the Bird. I want pow and I want to put my signature on a hill of untracked pow - and then I'll admire it while I skin back up for sloppy seconds.
Keep up the good work with your pub. Reality is I'll keep reading it despite the cover.

3pin,
I'm a downhill skier and I liked T4 the best out of both mags. I remember picking up that issue on the newstand and browsing thru it because the radness level on the cover caught my eye.
My fav for Coliour last year was dec.... simple and elgegant.
Keep up the good work on the mag

To answer a few questions... BigTim, interesting idea. Still, if all goes right, then our favorites would match up with yours anyway. At least, that seems to be the case with the November cover (the office favorite for the year, too).
Bender, as much as we'd like to see a clean cover on every copy, we have to have headlines to get newsstand sales. Backpack pointed out that he picks up, or leaves the mag depending on the headline's it has. Still, we're trying to find that line between simplicity with headlines, and making sure it catches the eye of a potential reader.
Backpack, it's just as valuable to know what makes someone put the magazine down as pick it up. Thanks for the feedback... that issue was definitely a lot of gear (though we did run three South America features).
Powstash, no offense taken at not liking the photos, but Telemark Skier also isn't a BC mag. It's resort, it's BC, it's heli, it's skinning, it's park, it's anything as long as it's freeheel. But since freeheel is really about the turn, your point isn't lost (and I think we've finally found it with our next cover).
Still, teamdirt's response is exactly what we're going for with Telemark Skier... a magazine that's specifically freeheel, but with the ability to interest outside the market.
Great feedback, definitely appreciate it.
