I'll sometimes listen to conservative talk radio for a good laugh. I get a kick out listening to these guys try to defend some of the stuff Bush and his Administration have done. When Rove was identified as one of the leaks of the CIA agent they were scrambling to figure out a way to deflect the criticism back at liberals. When they said he didn't do anything wrong because he never said her actual name I immediately thought of Clinton's comment about what the definition of "is" is.

These type of shows are not about changing peoples mind or getting out the facts. They are about which guest can make the best back handed insult toward the other.

Does anyone else find it sad that a show on comedy central is far and away the best source Cable TV news. I used to want to be a journalist, Now I just want to work construction in the summers and ski all winter.

Jon Stewart is probably the smartest host on TV right now. I know that's not saying much, but I think (and hope) the Daily Show will have a big influence on the 2006 and '08 elections.
I've thought about making a "Stewart for President" bumper sticker, just to try and wake some people up.
Think it would sell?

IMO, Jim Lehrer (of the Lehrer News Hour on PBS) is the most savy news person in the country hands down, but JS is great, no doubt. At least JS, through humor, connects with a younger, and larger, auidence.

Is there a way I can catch the daily show off of the innernet?

I'm away from home for work for a long while, and the local cable providers don't carry comedy central. I'd hook that bitch up with satellite, but it's a hotel room so it's not really an option.

I'd stretch and try and tough it out; but october seems so far away and you fuckers recapping like this shit in this here thread doesn't help at all.

Yeah but James Carville's rant was the stuff Stewart complains about - petty partisan accusations that get ratings but also get away from the real issue. Sure it was an amusing comment, but also hypocritical because "trying to show you have a backbone" applies to both parties.

It is sad that the news stations are talking heads stations. Say what you want about fox, but the fox news hour is one hour of straight up news. Unfortunately the news hour is only one hour. CNN HN is all news, but it's only headlines. Do we really need anything on top of the network news? I should rephrase that; are we getting anything more than the networks are giving us? Not really, I say.
