Rocky Ford cantaloupe is for real, so CO has 3 great things.
Plus taters and maybe barley could be added? Colorado baking tater is for sure damned good. Not sure how good the barley is, but beer guys sure use it.
I'll verify that Grand Junction/Palisade area has the best peaches anywhere hands down, used to regularly mow a flat or two between there and Tahoe. This coming from someone with Central Valley and Sierra Foothills peaches at the local farmers markets. No contest. Surprising second place goes to Reno - I used to just stroll around my neighborhood and pick them myself (with permission) in people's front yards. So good.
Also stoked on wild raspberries starting to go off, currants not far behind.
^yea our blackberries are starting to really go off. Soooo good!
Season has started in NH. Local orchard is going off! This is $25 worth.

Wow, so many kinds of peaches. I thought peaches were just....peaches. I don;t think they specify in the supermarkets around here.
The family I buy from just started picking Veterans. Very tasty!

Veteran peaches are an especially good medium-sized canning peach. The skin is yellow with a red blush that can be slight to very intense.
My Veterans are still green, but I have a pretty good crop. Two more weeks I’d say.
Rode through the local orchard yesterday. My favorites are the Saturn peaches, sweet and delicious. They aren’t quite ripe yet. However the plums were good to go!
