The jobs it would bring to the local community are a benefit for the locals that get the work.

In my community I'd say a third of it are Amazon employees that moved here from out of state or another country, mostly Indian.

Schools / daycare busting at the seams, no spots for your kids so have to bus them elsewhere, traffic congestion, increased cost of living due to increase of higher wage earners flooding an area, housing market becomes unaffordable and homelessness increases.

Parking, the fucking parking. And traffic, did I mention traffic.

I think Detroit deserves to be on the list of front runners.

Detroit certainly has some space to offer.

Work in a tower that is nearly all Amazon right in the heart of the Amazon campus.

I've been bounced out of monthly parking at three surface lots and two garages the former are all now construction sites for either Amazon or the new Childrens Hospital building. the later that Amazon took over exclusive use of.

Baltimore's a decent option, I wouldn't be amazed if it goes in there, Under Armour has the real estate open for them right on the water and it hits most of the other boxes except for taxes. But I bet it goes to Toronto. Easier to get the techies they want into Canada than the US.

it’s weird being on the seattle side of this, but companies like amazon have the ability to bring money and opportunity to regions that don’t have it. as an example it’s really hard to make good money at a desk easy of the cascades going on for quite a few states. my play is detroit, but if nothing less, i hope this sparks coversation as to how our new rulers (corps.) can help control and possibly relieve the virtuous cycle of wealth and opportunity consolidation that is happening regionally (imagine a nice salary and not having to live in NYC, SEA, etc).

They should buy some huge tract of land in flyover country and start construction on a high tech planned city.

Funny. My company got acquired last year and a new CEO was brought who is located in Atlanta. He replaced the entire C-suite, all with people who are in Atlanta. With that many people there now you'd think it would be our new head office, but they all work from home and refuse to change that.

Just to get off track for a minute here,I am constantly amazed at how bad Amazon is at packing boxes. It seems sort of central to their business, but they are terrible at it.

I think the bigger question is Amazon's motive.
How many companies have two HQ's?
My guess, is that the long term goal isn't to have two HQ's.
Generally speaking, I think the whole thing is a Trojan horse for whatever city get's it (if it really happens at all).
