Gotta have studded snow tires IMO. But that doesn't give anybody license to drive like an idiot, just adds a margin of safety on the ice.
But the tractor trailers do present a danger, should one happen to slide into you on a curve. That's my greatest fear on that road.

True...It is best not to drive it during morning "rush hour," when all the people working construction at the YC are driving up from Belgrade and Bozeman. By afternoon the road has usually melted out and it's an easier drive.Quote:

It is somewhat difficult and more importantly expensive to fly into Bozeman.
But when you are in SLC, yes, you are. For better or worse.

I drove it regularly in the 80's. probably a ton more traffic now. Also the speed limit was 55 then....and you got nailed for driving fast when the roads were icy. Anyway. Continue.

I am stoked on the recent investments. Better infrastructure means more bike trails, more bars and apres, more resort tax revenue, more money for everyone. COL is already expensive it won't get much worse except for maybe real estate.
Even if the town becomes busier, it will never be a ski resort along a major interstate (I90/I70) and there are zero major metropolitan feeder markets like Seattle, Denver, SLC. I'm not worried about Big Sky ever becoming saturated with those types of crowds. We will never have hour long lift lines. It will always be a pain in the ass to get to and cold as shit.

That ski area pays cash for everything and carries zero debt, they sell about 10K season passes each year which provides their operating capital and then some, they are required to plow back their profits into the area and into the staffing, strange model eh?Quote:
