I dunno, I don't really notice much difference between a CD and standard downloads from Apple or Amazon, even listening on a pretty good home sound system (full-size Vandersteen speakers, Hsu sub, decent Denon AV receiver). I did some A/B tests early on and couldn't reliably tell which was CD and which was download, so I decided not to worry about it. Streaming audio (Pandora, Spotify, Apple Music) is a different story - I can tell the difference there (especially Pandora), but it still doesn't sound too bad to me and the convenience of having pretty much any album I'd ever want to hear readily available makes up for it.
And Crusier, a projector is the one situation I could see it making sense to use local media instead of streaming. But on my 50" LED TV with a good internet connection, the difference isn't enough to bother with Blurays. I have the player, but I haven't used it in probably 2 or 3 years.
