Other plumbing question: I drained my hot water heater to clear sediment out, and now my tub faucet on the 2nd floor is pretty much air locked. There is just a trickle of flow coming when it's wide open. Is there an easy way to clear that without calling a plumber?

Same shit happens with overflow pressure relief valve. Learned decades ago to not purge those unless you are ready to replace them.

When buddy put in my new HE furnace I had him drain and instal a tray under the tank at the same time but otherwise I have never flushed a tank ?!?

I've broken more plumbing related things doing preventive maintenance than things that have broken because they haven't been maintained.
If it ain't leaking don't touch it. This goes for valves, heaters, faucets, whatever.
That said my area has very normal water that doesn't scale or anything
