Looks like there is no STI wagon on the way. There is a Forester and design for a hatchback STI.

See, that's what I'm talking about. A Legacy STi that could run with an S4 would be sweet. Not that I could probably afford it, nor would I want to drive it to the mountains and get stuck behind a sand truck.

Exactly, 4x4 or AWD vans are the perfect ski vehicles.

But what are the choices? GMC Safari AWD? Toyota Previa All-Trac? VW Synchro?

If Subaru could make something along these lines, I would throw down.

Tom, isn't there a syncro vw diesel van available in europe? But of course, they'd never bring it over here...Sportmobile makes a killer 4x4 e350 van, but they are pricey and gas hogs.

In their test of the forester XT, Car and Driver alluded to reports that the forester sti may make it over here, but I think it's doubtful. However, they are adding 20 hp to the 2006 forester xt--from 210 to 230--which is cool. Add some sti suspension bits, some real brakes and tires, and there ya go. The 2005 version already does 0-60 in under 6 seconds.

Dodge Grand Caravan comes (came?) in AWD.

Does anyone in the US import the military version of the G wagen? One of the diesels would be a cool ski choice. aside that diesels suck balls starting in the cold.

Yes - lots of alpine airport shuttles and ambulances are VW synchro TDI's....used to drive the 2.4TDI at work...fast enough to be interseting, would powerslide on switchbacks...now replaced by the 3.0TDI, good for 200kph crusing...or 50+mpg at 100kph

Nope no awd. Also a bit of a dog, but a very solid rig, better than any american designed pos van.

Is that what we cruised to Italy in last year, Tom? If PM Gear gets a rig, I want something like that - 50 mpg - and lots of room. Hideous or not, the functionality of a rig like that certainly outweighs being cool. Because it's way cooler to save money and be able to haul a lot of crap and camp in it.

It exists...just not in the US.

Hell, I'd take just a normal B4. No love for the US there either.

No that was my nast Renult Master van...very good price to space/capacity/economy ratio, but drives like a truck and goes like a slug...AWD is expensive...the slightly smaller renult Traffics are much better...the VW's are a far superior vehicle but at nearly twice the price!...anther option is the comercial version of the Mercedes Vito van..not sure if you can get AWD but they are cheap..almost Renult Traffic cheap and they don't fall apart.

No AWD in the US. You can get a sprinter with AWD overseas, I rode in one last week (w/a CDI no less)

That car is but uggly, and it defintly doesnt fit your personality, I think that the LAV is much more your style. In fact I think that you can even get one used with homo rainbow bumper sticker allready on it.
