Heading up to VT this weekend, any whisper dates for Kmart or SR absent a miracle dump in the next 2 weeks?
A little something for your inner child.

Tango Bravo is my prediction for the season thanks to Laser's sacrifice. Bummer to hear you're moving man. I guess that officially makes me the best skier on the mountain. Best of luck down there.
Wishing everyone a DEEP season!
Clearly you're forgetting that Santa lookalike dude that was tele'ing like a Devore on 220cm antique wood skis and in leather boots ;) I don't think any of us can mess with that guy tbh haha
One of the things I'm looking forward to the most this season is seeing your face after you get out on those skis though!!!
Hi guys,
Can anybody tell me what the best ski is for New England?:fmicon:
I am short, fat, and wear a Patriots Starter jacket (if that helps).

Checking in..Winter is coming
TC just said it's snowing at Jay... is this true?
Edit: spoke too soon. sweet.
`(Note to potential ESAW attendees this year: likelihood of Gu donations = High; likelihood of presenter being an attractive young female with charming foreign accent = Low.) Jonathan S.
Received official speakers list for ESAW today
WIN WIN WIN WIN WIN WIN WIN
On another note-unusual Fall here in Coastal Maine. It has been warm with no frost yet. Little rain, no big storms which are so common in the Fall. I think it is a lull. I think early winter will be very active.
Second Edit:man I think I am writting to myself. Dale Atkins will be speaking at ESAW. He is the closer on TNF "Know YOur Boundaries" avalanche series. Stoke meter is pinning for the conference. Big snows coming early this year.

I'm fucking ready.
Was on the AT on Stratton Sunday morning, cold and wet. A few degrees lower and it could have snowed....
In before the cock :fm:
Good luck in Fla laser. A little over 3 weeks till ski season. Stoked to get it going this year.
I'd put money on Killy being open this weekend...maybe only for pass and cardholders like they did last year.
Laser, sorry you're going to miss the best snow season in a decade.
therudeness posted THIS deal in the old RC, looks like I'll actually do some traveling this year. They're going fast.
Oh the irony: when I learned that the Chic Chocs would be on the agenda again, I thought, don't get your hopes up, they'll probably send someone else, but oh yes, the accent is back ... yet sadly, I contacted Gu too late, so no freebie packets or raffle prizes from them this year, sorry!
So four of the ESAW presenters will be from outside the Eastern U.S., wow!
Abbreviated schedule as follows:
7:30 Begin showing up.
8:15 Introductory remarks.
8:30 How to make avy-related wx obs, by the same obs presenter we had in 2011 (bio second from the bottom)
9:15 Baxter/Katahdin
10:00 Raffle & rest break (plus we’ll have some vendor displays at ESAW this time)
10:15 Sidecountry human factors, by Doug Richmond, Bridger ski patrol director
11:00 Shorter sessions including Chic-Chocs (she’s back!), Eastern snowmaking avies (Roger Damon, who’s been teaching avy courses since the 1960s), AvaTech (they did a guest presentation at the avy course I was teaching this past weekend – MIT snowpit wizardry!)
12:00 Raffle and lunch
1:00 Wet snow physics that you probably won’t fully understand (but very cool to hear anything from Sam Colbeck, retired from CRREL)
1:45 Uncertainty in Avy Decision Making (by Dale Atkins, head honcho of *the* American Avalanche Association, plus in general the nation’s authority on avy rescue)
2:30 Raffle & break
2:45 Using “Avalanche Problem” Descriptors to Communicate Risk, by Tim Brown, IFMGA guide and Instructor Trainer for the American Institute for Avalanche Research and Education
3:30 Shorter Sessions including Mt W’s Meteorological Variability (USFS snow ranger Jeff Lane & a person whose name would imply another charming foreign female accent but unfortunately the bio indicates otherwise), RECCO (Dale Atkins again), Bridger avy safety (Doug Richmond of course)
4:30 Closing remarks and walk around the corner to IME for some combination of more vendor displays, socializing, and beer
Checking in for 13/14. Two planks in the forecast.
Yarrrrrr

Getting some nice low temps this week. They'll be testing the new guns hopefully.
would probably be good if the ground froze first. has there even been an appreciable frost yet?

Another one bites the dust. Free heelers and one plankers are smartening up...
Mount Washington is testing the snow making system:
INTENSE LOW PRES NEAR NEWFOUNDLAND AND STRONG HIGH PRES BUILDING
INTO THE MISSISSIPPI VALLEY WILL SET UP STRONG NW FLOW CAA REGIME
FOR NEW ENGLAND BEGINNING THU. THE BULK OF THE COLD ANOMALIES WILL
SLIDE INTO THE SERN U.S. BUT SEASONABLY COLD AIR MASS WILL STILL
INVADE THE NORTHEAST. WITH DEEP NW FLOW ACROSS CANADA...OVERALL AIR
MASS WILL BE DRY. HOWEVER...LINGERING LLVL MOISTURE WILL BE WRUNG
OUT OVER THE HIGH TERRAIN...AS UPSLOPE SHSN LINGER INTO FRI. SOME
LIGHT ACCUMS ARE POSSIBLE IN THE MTNS WITH THIS. MIXING DEPTHS
INCREASE WITH CAA...AND GUSTY NW WINDS EXPECTED THU FOR THE CWFA.
MAX WIND GUSTS LOOK TO BE ON THE ORDER OF 25 TO 30 KTS ATTM. TEMPS
SHOULD FALL WELL BELOW NORMAL IN THIS PATTERN...WITH HIGHS IN THE
40S AND LOW 50S...WITH LOWS FALLING WELL INTO THE 30S.
NEXT S/WV TROF DROPS THRU MANITOBA AND CUTS ACROSS THE GREAT LAKES
SAT...WITH WEAK LOW PRES CROSSING THE NORTHEAST OVERNIGHT INTO
SUN. COLD ANTECEDENT AIR MASS AND FAVORABLE DIURNAL TIMING OF PCPN
COULD MEAN THAT FLAKES FLY WELL DOWN INTO THE FOOTHILLS AND
INTERIOR AS OPPOSED TO JUST THE HIGH TERRAIN. GIVEN LIGHT PCPN AND
RELATIVELY DRY CONDITIONS THOUGH...IT WILL BE HARD TO SEE MUCH IF
ANY ACCUM. IT WILL BE MORE A REMINDER OF THE COMING SEASON.
