Didnt watch the video, didnt read the thread, but its a fucking rock...get over it.
Jesus christ you guys are a bunch of pussys.
edit: watched the video, ^^ still stands.
Philosophic question. An interesting logic you bring up: if something will happen anyway then its OK to hasten its demise. IMO you tread on a slippery slope with that logic. If someone, for fun, dynamited the Old Man of the Mountain the day before it fell would that have been OK?
I dunno- they look Canadian to me...
Imagine how much of this has taken place over the course of human history. Only now can we witness it from the safety of our seats on the glorious interwebs. Thank you Al Gore and GoPro!
It's not like they are toppling Stonehenge, it's one of may balanced rocks in a field of balanced rocks. Are they assholes? Yep. Are they setting a bad example for others? Yes. Should you get your panties in a bunch over it? Hell Yes!!!
When we were kids, rock trundling was a sport. We used big pry bars and car jacks. Don't know how old those rock formations were, but nobody seemed to give a fuck, and it was on our land.
Ya, I mean, if these were endagered rocks I would completely understand...
In my estimation, the vandalism and removal of cave drawings, ancient pictographs, etc...is infinitely worse than this.
When we used to go to field sites for geology studies/mapping in college there were definitely some places in which you had to stay on designated paths due to the presence of endangered lichens, this I completely understood and complied with.
Pretty sure these guys are borderline retarded.

Ya, I know, I have been there multiple times, there are a shit ton of them.
wtf do coon infestations have to do with this?
Not sure if you were referring to me with the lemming comment but Im pretty sure I was the first to go against the TGR-grain in this thread.
any law that if everyone simultaneously broke it regardless of how meaningless the law or inconsequential the crime seems is worth enforcing.
Me? I would rather look at that rock balanced there, and imagine that time took care of the ones that toppled. Not this.
You tools have obviously never seen just how fast a natural setting can be utterly ruined when the bubbas think it's okay to ruin it.
Sad, that every generation will have to learn the same shit over and over again the same way cuz every generation is too fucking stupid to slow down and think.
Dude, the guy knocked a fucking hoodoo over, he is clearly a redneck retard but Im not sure his actions are worthy of the internet uproar they have created.
Focus your energy on legitimate concerns re: natural settings...de-forestation, the decimation of the world's fish supply, open pit mining, etc...
I like how you see their actions and our responses as representative of an entire generation, makes sense :rolleyes2
The crime is getting upset about the crime, obviously. The crime itself is not a crime.

Exactly what does a little internet uproar cost? Well, nothing, actually. So what is worth nothing to you? Apparently defacing geologic structures is not even worth nothing in your estimation.
As to focusing my energy elsewhere, I put plenty of it into other pursuits. I've been known to move some rocks also, generally when working on stream restoration projects to undo irrigation-caused damage a(and all while working under appropriate permits issued pursuant to the Clean Water Act).
I have defaced a SHIT TON of geologic structures, in the name of science of course.
