Help with beach/warm weather honeymoon

The nicest all-inclusive place I have been to is Excellence Playa Mujeres. Its north of Cancun and an easy cab/ shuttle from the airport. The beach is gorgeous and flat and overlooks Isla Mujeres. There are no fat people there binge eating. Its mostly honeymooners. The suites are modern and large, the food is very good, tons of top shelf liquor, adult only, and there's free porn 24X7 on several TV channels.

If you splurge a bit on the Excellence club rooms you get beach valet service and a few other perks.

There's not a lot to do other than kick it on the beach and fully relax...but that's usually what I'm after.

Took a bootleg tour in Vinales by horse drawn cart into the fields to meet the cubans, got a pretty good buzzz from drinking sugar cane drinks and smoking cigars at 10am all the sugar and the tobacco grown by the farmer, bought a bundle of cigars for 15 $ rolled by the farmers wife, they had local coffee too, there might be one old tractor to a cooperative but most of the farming was still done with cattle power, they strap a couple of 4x4's around the horns of a pair of cattle and hook them to a sledge ... interesting stuff

When we went (early 90s) it was still owned by rockafellers and catered to Honeymoons, which it still catered to last time we went (2006). I guess it's in what you want. hell in the airport, which was then a hut in charlotte amalie, five of us all realized at once we were fiddling with the "new" ring on our fingers, and we all partied together all week. It was a blast and we never once had to fool with a rental car.

In any event I cannot recomend st. john high enough, as others have. incredibly beatuiful place.

I know it's not for everyone, but a cruise can be a nice way to do a relaxing beach oriented vacation on a budget. Seems like the industry is kind of suffering right now due to a few unfortunate incidents in the news. Might be able to snag a quality deal as a result.

Just sayin It's nice to post up on some chairs under and umbrella, order drinks from the pool waitress, head down to the beach periodically and snorkel and swim. Take a dip in the pool. Repeat

The Belize Cayes (keys) / Mexican Riviera combo is a great trip. Fly in or out of Cancun, buses and water taxis from there.

North Shore of Kauai. Fairly quiet & beautiful surroundings.

Well, looks like asE Asia/Myanmar trip just isn't financially anywhere viable now so we are leaning heavily towards Belize and Caye Caulker as a few people have recommended here.

If you've got some specific info throw it out! Looks like the water taxi from Belize City to islands is dead easy. And islands are small enough to just rent bikes on.

Try the clymb. I think they gots some warm deals dates are set though.

Ooh. My wife and I stayed at cocotal inn and cabanas. It was phenomenal. On ambergris caye. We flew in and took the boat out (cost). Then there's table rock jungle lodge in interior Belize. Less to do there but the place is awesome. Couple from Syracuse are caretakers. He's a chef. Scorpions in the roof.

Ambergris caye is great for diving and snorkeling. Cocotal has kayaks and shabby bikes to borrow. We were there in September. Only guests. Same at table rock. September is low season.

Shit, you don't even need bikes. You can walk that island in no time. We stayed right at the water taxi dock in some units owned by Dianne Auxillou. EAsy to walk to the split for swimming and buckets of Beliken. The best food is on the street; Budget Man and the Cake Lady are my recommendations. Definitely take a day or two and see some Mayan ruins and go cave tubing. Major Tom runs great tours and is an awesome ambassador for the country. He knows so much history of the country and is well respected by everyone he runs into.

We went snorkeling with Carlos and French Angel, French Angel was for night snorkeling which was pretty cool with the bioluminescence. Just realize that this is not the destination for great beaches. The water is beautiful and there are many ways to enjoy it, but wide, sandy beaches aren't one of them.

Flights to Belize Oct 14-25.

Stoked.

One night in Belize City then onto Caye Caulker for a few days and then Caye Ambergris before coming back to Belize City.


Any suggestions for killing 15 hours in Houston on way home. I tend to avoid TX.

Good call, Belize is dope. Avoid the mainland as much as possible. You pretty much want to be in or on the water at all times. The best scuba and snorkeling my limited experience has ever encountered. The Blue hole is pretty much mind blowing. We shredded on a Hobie cat, drank killer rum, swam with sharks and turtles, hung with some Rastas and loved every minute. They use US dollars and speak perfect English too.

I actually prefer Ambergris Caye but I dont mind a few people, still not "crowded", you can rent big sick houses for cheap. San Pedro is chill. Some come with boats and skippers. Get a golf cart and drive as far as you can.

Man I need to go back! Have a blast!

Heh, we were going to go to Ambergris Caye as well, but after looking at prices and the additional time back to the airport we just decided to stay a few extra days in Caye Caulker.

Its the only time it's below 33C! It's hot on a level this mountain grown guy has never experienced. Gotta stay in or on the water.
