You regift it to your favorite bartenders at a Thanksgiving bash.
Then find yourself, sitting next to the hottest server [and her bf], who asks the bartender/bud-"are you sure you aren't chewing"??? And realized it's the aroma of the Laphroig that smells, to her, like chew. heh. ;)
Just never could get into the taste of single-malt. Peat. gross.
Like single barrel a lot more.. Whats wrong with bourbon?? Flavors of toffee and caramel, vanilla and spices?!? mmmm bourbon

I just recently discovered that peat has been the reason I've disliked Scotch. God bless the Speyside Scots and their smooth spirits.
I've got the Balvenie DoubleWood at home, and have recently sampled the old man's Balvenie 15 and Macallan Fine Oak 15. The Bal 15 has been the standout. It's funny that you mention the DoubleWood hangover, Steve. More than a glass, and the stuff gives me a stomach ache.
I find myself reaching for Armagnac/Cognac lately, though.
