I was too young to remember, but my first run was at Mt. Kato, MN, on the run lookers left of the huge radio tower on the left.

My first actual memory of being on skis was nordic skiing- my parents both raced and we were up in Cable, WI for my dad to ski the Birkebeiner. We always went up a week ahead so my parents could skate part of the course and so we could ski for a few days as a family. I remember skating along behind my dad who had me attached to a cord so he could feel if I fell. Half the time he made me ride in one of those kiddie packs on his back so they could go faster, and I guess I didn't like that quite as much. I don't remember how old I was, maybe 5 or 6? I skied nordic a lot when I was younger and raced in the Kortelopet (1/2 birkie) when I was 13 and 14. Then it was all downhill from there.
