Indeed! This problem is no rarity! In such situations, you have to rely on your brain, eyes, experience/education, forecast, and data from similar slopes. When you can't test the slope in question or find a representative slope to test, it increases uncertainty. Uncertainty should encourage conservative decision making with special thought given to the exposure (consequence).

Indeed, I was unclear. I quoted you because what you said backed my point. The rest of the response was in response to Goldenboy, not to the quote of you I used in support. I added a clarification to the post.
