Along those same lines, will any demo pairs be making it to the Utah Mini? After this season I'll be in the market for new boards, and I'd love to try these things out. Just wondering, and great job Splat, I know that I couldn't put up with all the crap you have for these skis.Quote:

Made my first Bro turns last Saturday, on mntlion's supersoft prototypes. Considering how soft they are, I was impressed with the stability and the lack of deflection at speed. Definitely looking forward to my soft Bro's - Idris told me that the regular softs are a good bit stiffer than the supersoft proto's.
Splat - don't give yourserlf an ulcer! We know you've been busting your ass to get the Bro's out ASAP and we appreciate it.
Unrelated Bro story: I was leafing through the latest issue of Powder when I came across the PM Gear ad. I said to my girlfriend (who thinks her Tua Crossrides are the best ski ever :rolleyes: ), "Hey, here's the skis I ordered!"
She comes over and takes a look. "Is that what colour they are?"
Me: "Uh ... yeah."
Her: "Don't you think they look kind of feminine?"

And before anybody brings this up: No, there will be no naked pictures of her posted on the board. I already asked.
I skied the pro-bro (super stiffy) on icy death this past Sat. I was impressed with how light they were for such a bomber ski. Didn't feel like there was anything on my feet. They held an edge great. They reminded me of the explosiv but lighter and quicker edge to edge.
It's impressions like these that make my day. I know someone will come along who doesn't like them or prefers another ski over the Bro, and that's to be expected. But I know we did good. We made a killer ski for all conditions on our first shot and I hope it gains a reputation and sets a standard that makes people come back for it year after year. Thanks to all you maggots who have taken the time to ski them and post. We'll have more around at the minis, etc. Ya can't keep a good ski down.
I tried the Pro Bros this past weekend and here's my review:

Tester stats: 6'2" 195 lbs....so you can compare with your quiver.
He skis stiff skis from the 207 Pinhead Igneous mid-fat (stiffest flex they ever made), 195 Igneous Fat Carvers, 188 Volkl G4's, 190 Volkl Explosives, Kingswood (NZ) 185 Fats and Mid-Fats (Gnar Kills), 222 RD Valdez Extreme.
Boots: Tecnica Diablo Magesium 28.0
I only rode the Pro Bros...the stiff ones.
Vets review from last week of the Pro Bros was pretty right on.
The 188 size is perfect.
The tail is more twin than I thought, more like a G4 shaped tail. So if you were concerned about that, you can still pull your 180's in the park or on the groomed.
The graphics are very nice. Nice blues and browns that go nice with the brown sidewalls.....differently cool. My brother right away said he wanted a sticker of the Jet in the logo.
The Ride...I was expecting the skis to not flex by reading all about these on the board. However, it didn't feel like the Pro Bros were as super stiff as talked about, but then again I'm used to stiff skis (see height/weight/skis above). The stiff boards still have a nice flex to them....so don't think that they are made of steel. They have a cadillac feel ride and power through anything. The turn initiation much like Vets said needs a little power to get the ski to rail. Don't get me wrong, you really need to be paying attention and be on-it to get the most out of these (pro) boards. Once the turn is railing, the sweetness of the tail's flex kicks in and slices through any ice rink.

Idris is right on--the supersoft protos are so soft, I thought they wouldn't be skiable on the palmer gnar--which proved to be incorrect, as they skied just fine, even for this guy who prefers stiff iggies/w105s--mtnlion will be liking them in the pow for sure. I brought a friend up to Hood that day (a 5'5" girl who usually skis 178 g4/b3s) and she LOVED them even thought they were the longest skis she has ever tried. Honestly haven't skied the new Bishops though I've heard good things (talk to Telephil about them). I do like the way they ski better than the Linkens. They're slightly more active, have a really tight toebox and very nice control. They also weigh about 2/3 of what a the linkens do and for most spring stuff will eliminate the need for separate crampons and will effectively be step in.Quote:

I've been following this whole thing since its inception and I'm quite inpressed that you've pulled this off, starting with gloves and quickly moving up to bigger and better things. My girlfriend doesn't understand why I'm always on the board, and telling her stories of how a bunch of internet people have designed their own ski and are actually manufacturing it.

Finally got some momentum going and some skis have been shipped and some stiffs pressed. We'll ship again Monday and Tuesday.
edit: You peeps whose skis will arrive next week (for Gonzo,tomorrow) the skis need tuned. We've been tuning them at 1 base,2 side. If you're doing a lot of grooms, you might want to try 2-2. They will also require a couple good waxings. Enjoy.

Sorry, Pulver, if you're in Surrey, you're a ways down the list. There's 14 deliveries for softs, 15 stiffs ahead of you. They only need tuned if you use the edges. Just a suggestion.

We hope to have everything out the door by Xmas. We are making 100 pair for another company concurrently and are trying to get the shop to a stride that increases pairs of Bros per day/week so we can get them shipped out. Keep the faith, mang, we're getting there.
Skiied the soft Bros at Kirkwood today and they were FUN, :biggrin: Felt really stable and fast. Please say you're still planning to make a shorter (but not softer) version next season. Thanks Vets.
