I think a lot about kite surfing with skis. When's someone going to do that.

Could someone please feed Douglas? :)

Nice! Way to get after it. Can't wait to see the footage.
Not my intent Blurry... I've got love for skis and snowboards alike. :yourock:
The rollerblade reference was probably ill-conceived... wasn't meant to be a cool-uncool analogy.
The concept of skiing waves has definitely occurred to me and immediately seemed awkward. I have no doubt Cody and Mike D's pursuit will correct that perception.
Corey Roseler's been doing it for years. He's won the Blowout a bunch of times on them. He's using regular waterskis though I think.
Which brings up my question...why use ski boots? I don't know enough about wateski bindings but I would assume that there are some fairly stiff ones if some of hte shit I have seen in waterski videos is possible. It seems like they would be safer than getting tumbled on a big wave in ski boots.
Cheer's to Cody and Mike, always innovating the sport of "ACL mutilation"
jk, stoked to check out the footy!
That couldn't be farther from the truth. We tested probably 10 different binding/boot set ups and by far the safest and highest performing set up we tested over this last year was the alpine boot and alpine bindings set up. The performance of alpine boots/bindings is higher than of any waterski binding and the fact that your skis can pop off while getting tomahawked by a big wave is a crucial factor in saving our knees and not drowning.
sponsored by Robin Masters no doubt :fm:
Nice you guys! Can't wait to see it with my own eyes. The ocean has always seemed so intimidating. Those waves must be so huge, all that water, and the speed!
Is it any faster/slower/about the same as maching a big peak in Alaska? I've never done either so, I don't know shit.
SheRa, watch, this winter this dude from maui, for now nameless will pop a kite up somewhere, bsb, the beav, who knows and be kite board jumping something!
He and his wife and daughter just moved out there. SUPER nice hard core sport folks.
Inspiring stuff! I’d love to see a teaser too.
It feels slower than skiing on snow in general in both flat out speed and in turning motions. Imagine riding fat skis on shin-deep slush. The only difference is that you almost always have an avalanche behind you waiting to pound. I can definitely say that ripping along on a good size wave is one of the coolest sensations I've ever had.
FYI... ski boots float in salt water, and aside from the ability to kick effectively, swimming is no problem. After riding and getting pounded by big waves, we are fully confident that we made the right decision by using alpine boots and bindings. The skis we are using have a lot of room for improvement.
Our goal is to have the whole project packaged in an episode of Salomon Freeski TV before Xmas.
Wake truly is more Jongish than snow. Not saying it's not difficult.
Inspiring stuff! I’d love to see a teaser too.
Jaws 1st try!
Here's to Maui Wowi
Hopefully I'll die w/ some film of that:the_finge
Woo, Mikedski does it again! Nice one.
