How did you get it on your leg, dude? I know we are probably all colonised at some time or other but actually becoming infected is shitty.
Keep on healing and beat the bugs!
Well It'll give you something to think about untill the snow flies right?

damn lan, sorry to hear. i had a horrific bout of mrsa staph last year, and i can also say that it's really fukking horrendous. luckily they sorted a cocktail of anitbiotic that finally sorted me out, but not before many sleepless nights. hang in there, kiddo!
for the rest of us- it's more important than ever to clean up nicks and dings. mrsa staph (methicillin resistant staphylococcus) is nothing to mess around with. penicillin and other antibiotics that are normally prescribed are completely useless against it, it is a super-bug. it used to be confined to hospitals, but has also made the jump out into the general public. if you suspect that you may have an infection, don't dick around with it and wait for it to get better, treat it immediately!

Yo Scabby!
Fix up good y'see. We're all pullin' for ya.
Dear Lan, sorry to hear about the staph. Hope you can overcome it soon.
My wife had to have extensive back surgery years ago and got staph at the hospital. The only thing that the Docs came up with to control it was good old table sugar packed into the wound. She had pack it twice a day and then irrigate it just before the next sugar pack. It was kind of odd, but it worked better than all of the drugs. Good luck
How'd I wish this?
Heal up LAN! (Much positivty coming your way.)
Positive vibes sent from the DTC in Colorad-ee. Heal up well and soon.

Well ... I escaped the hospital without being admitted! I was given three choices by the wacky Infectious Disease doc. Double up on antibiotics, try another antibiotic, or admit myself and get the super-duper-big-gun antibiotic by IV. He thought the most appropriate choice was to double dose my current stuff (please note: he is a MAN and has never had the yeastie beasties). But, I went ahead with it.
Now I'm just taking the antibiotics like candy, drinking tons of water, watching lots of TV and eating yogurt like it's going out of style.
Thanks for all of the positive thoughts. It's so disappointing for this to happen because I feel like I've been bitten in the ass by the hospital. The doc isn't sure why it manifested in my leg (I can think of other places that would be a lot worse!). We have tons of MRSA around our hospital - so much in fact that we can't even put them in isolation, which many smaller hospitals do.
The ironic part was that yesterday was my last day there. I'm supposed to finish up on this coming Wednesday, but I get to go back and see the doctor again. So ... fack you Harborzoo! I'm SO outta there. :) :) :)
