Bump, because somewhere in the world it is snowing.
Another great weekend last weekend.
No fresh, but 50 lifts open at my home resort.
Having a weekend off due to work but will be there the next three weekends after this one.
Another 40cm is predicted tonight and into tomorrow.
We should have a 2 metre base by end of July. With August still to arrive which is the main month for our snowfall.
It is a great season.
This is the first year in three that my brother isn't teaching at Thredbo. I wonder if he's kicking himself...
Sick and ashamed and happy (and maybe I should send him this thread),
d.
This is just seems so hard to get my mind around. It looks so good though. Nice pics.Quote:

Right now it's nearing 35 degrees and my Vice Principle won't turn the air conditioning on in the staff room. Want to kill Vice Principle.
Toque,
How much vacation you get this summer mate? ?@Wanna take a trip to the Southern Hemisphere??? If I dont get some fuckin cold weather soon, or a damn airconditioner, Im gonna die!!! :(
I want to so bad. I only get 20 days though and am saving most of them for winter.
And of course money. Saving to pay for shaken due in September:mad:
Hey Ski Beaver. Where is the best place to go in Australia and what would it compare to in BC?
Thredbo in NSW is probably the best place to go, most vertical, longest runs - 6 hours drive from Sydney.
Mt Hotham in Victoria is supposed to be pretty good too - have not been there though.
It compares to nothing in BC.
If anything Perisher Blue is like a scaled down version of Sunshine Village - sort of.
My advice would be to save the vacation, having said that I know how hard it is to go without skiing during the summer ( hence the Nthn Hemi trips).
NIce temps,Quote:

We had 9 degrees celcius in Sydney this morining with -1 degrees in some outlying suburbs.
:D
I guess you havn't been to any of the small shitty hills around BC. Ha ha ha.
You know where you can put your 9 degrees:mad:
Which part of Sydney do you live?Quote:

Only smallish places I have been are Kimberly, Norquay.
The rest were all MASSIVE - WB, LL, SSV,KH,Fernie....
Even Kimberly is a big place.
I started at Hemlock and then on to Manning Park. Hemlock is super shitty however MP was a pretty good hill.
How long does it take to get to the hills from Sydney?
5-6 hours.
Is a very easy drive, we do it there and back almost every weekend between June and October.
I live on the Northern Beaches - About 25 km's north of the city.Quote:

Just near Palm Beach and Avalon (where they filmed a few episodes of Baywatch until the locals complained about it).

Who would complain about baywatch being filmed on their beach?
Exactly, they were even going to film in winter and only on a couple of days during the week.
The old people started complaining, in the end the producers took it to Hawaii.
We call it NIMBY syndrome
Not In My Back Yard syndrome.
Wow....that totally looks like Summer Bay!Quote:

Ok, back to the skiing.
Heading down to the snow again this weekend.
This is the forecast;
Friday 16: moderate to strong NW winds turning S later, very cold day with widespread snowfalls developing and falling to around 800-900m overnight – heavy overnight snowfalls and blizzard conditions likley (13-25cm)
Saturday 17: moderate to strong SE winds increasing later, cold day with widespread snowfalls to around 900m, heavy snowfalls likely in the NSW resorts (20-35cm) and slightly less amounts likely in the VIC resorts (10-20cm), snowfalls should ease in the south during the afternoon
Sunday 18: strong SSE-SE winds, light snowfalls to around 1500m, the NSW resorts (4-12cm) should do a little better than VIC resorts (1-7cm), snowshowers should start to clear by the afternoon
You can view an extended forecast at;
Long Range forecast
Will post pics, this weekend is going to be off the dial.
Always wanted to crash into a gum tree. At least the eucalyptus would keep my sinuses clear when I'm wating for patrol..:D
We had bush fires going through the ski resorts in our 2002 summer (December 2002). The 2003 ski season I would always have black charcol marks on the sleeves of my ski jacket from skiing through all the burnt trees.
