Found a pitbull puppy in the road today...

My dog's favorite thing is to grab a rope and be spun around. He will NOT let go, and if he breaks away from it, he will literally jump back up to catch the rope the second he hits the ground. He is obsessed, it is inbred into these dogs. That little dog was doing what comes naturally. He just needed someone to teach him that you do not do that to people. MY dog will play really rough, but the second my hand or clothing gets in his mouth, he backs right down. Of course, he is only 20 pounds, not 65-75 like a pit bull.

Let's see....the planets aligned and Ice found a puppy. Puppy bonded with his kids today.


Everyone that says get rid of the puppy are a bunch of paranoid, uninformed, ignorant douchebags. Pitbulls are nice dogs, if you think different, turn off CNN for awhile and hang out with one....

I say keep her ice. Funny that Pit Bull, Roty thing on your insurance policy. Two of the nicest dogs I've ever seen were a female roty and a female pit bull. Very well behaved smart and loyal as hell.

When I first got my mutt he was VERY aggressive, caused by abuse. I had problems with him biting people and starting many dog fights. After training (with a firm hand) and a lot of love, he is an angel.

Ice-I would be a bit concerned with bringing any dog (pit or poodle) into a family with children, but with the proper training I'm sure it would be a welcomed addition.

I don't know much about dogs......but that dog looks like it has the potential to be pretty scary.........180lbs ......and I thought that dogs with all of that excess skin were bred to be like that for fighting...

The American Pit Bull Terrier is real and old breed, whose main registry is right in salt lake city! http://www.adba.cc/. They were bred for dog fighting. The main quality they were bred for was "gameness" or not giving up in a fight. Also resistance to pain and athletic or fighting ability.
Because the owners are in the pit with them a secondary desired quality was not turning on and shredding owner despite being in severe pain. The "snapping" might refer to the fact that the regular dog threat or warning displays are often bred down so they won't growl or bark, just bite

The American Staffordshire is the AKC recognition of what once was the same dog, although they have bred for show (think bodybuilder vs boxer).

if the dogs are inbred to latch onto stuff...

trade it in for a lab. they are inbred to fetch.

Keep the Pit. They are very loyal and fun dogs with alot of personality. Make sure to socialize it with other dogs and people, and you won't have a problem.

We took ours camping last week with 4 other dogs that he has never met. No problems. He just played with the other dogs and had fun.

The nice thing about Pits is they have short hair (read - LESS FUCKING DOG HAIR ALL OVER EVERYTHING), and they are relatively small.


If you don't want to scare the poor, sensitive hippies, then I suggest you trade it in for a toothless chocolate lab with an inferiority complex. Y'know, a hippy dog.

These dogs are inbred to look like Brad Pitt in Troy.

no experience with them. Just the look and size. It's obviously a bad ass dog. I've never seen anything quite like it.

Ice, be careful bro. Same thing happened tro me a few years ago, found a female pit pup wanderig the streets in my hood, snagged her up and all seemed well for a few days. Then she started to get very aggressive and territorial with my dog. My mom was looking for a dog at the time and when I left her with my mom, in less than 30 minutes she had bitten her and was completely out of control. Sadly I had to put her down at the humane society as they will not place pitbulls.

Is tempting fate on your HO policy really worth it? I think not.

Yeah, we've gone around and around and this is what we're gonna do: there's a guy who works at the gas station up the road who wants her. He lives by himself, so no kid/other dog issues. He seems cool, I don't know him well, but I think he'll take care of her.

If I don't hear from the owners today (I left a description and my number at Animal Control), we're gonna give the dog to the guy and adopt a different one. That way two dogs get rescued and karma is increased. This just seems the easiest way to go.

Truth has a point. With any stray animal you run a risk, not knowing its' history, be it pit bull, lab, boxer, or even cats & ferrets... We picked up a stray cat once and this happened to us too -- it was fine for a few days, then got really territorial with my other two cats, then attacked my mom when she tried to set a food bowl down. We made the decision that it had to go & when I went to get him and put him in the cage, he scratched the hell out of my arm.

Ice, does she have any scars of any sorts on her head or neck? Also, the fact that she's underweight could mean that someone was trying to starve her in order to get her to fight, since many dog fighters will starve the dogs.
