But seriously, Arty and DG are by no means the only Maggots in the Kirkwood crew that have improved very significantly this year. They're merely the most obvious.
Others that come to mind as being particularly significant:
Hardrider. He's ripping it far harder, faster, and bigger than he was when he arrived.
Kellie. She was damn good on arrival in the fall, but seeing her drop so easily into the top of Solstice yesterday made it absolutely clear that she's taken a step up.
LPH. (actually the last two years). Big changes for the better, all around improvement. Or, maybe it's just the skis. :D
It's been a pleasure and a privaledge to ski with all of you. You've pushed me and forced me to learn just to pretend to keep up.
I realized arty was the most improved when I spent several days in a row skiing with him in Utah at the mini.
In the past, there woulda been some waiting, many falls and some lack of confidence. At snowbasin, we got seperated from the crew and skied some trees/pow together. everytime I stopped he was right with me, skiing hard and strong. I told him that day that I simply could not believe how far he had come. in typical arty fashion he gave all the credit to his Gotamas. :D
We return to tahoe and the guy starts straightlining everything kirkwood has to offer, I was simply left shaking my head. Although I wasn't there, the bodyslide straightline out of heart chute musta been sick. ;)
ya, hardrider rips, but he pretty much ripped from day 1 this season, it is more a matter of confidence and style in his case.
DG certainly made a huge leap (especially since she started from scratch ;) ).
Nater, thanks for the props, although in my case, it was simply a matter of the spatulas, I love those skis so damn much, I tear up at the thought of waiting 6 months to ski them again. :( (hmm, maybe time to think about SA.)
Wait i was told they were sticks for any condition by someone........:DQuote:

no spring chute skiin gon them???
He seems to have come a long way since the days when Telepath and I were camped out at the SLT compound (an ultra huge thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Walter Sobchak, Arty50, Telenater, and Divegirl). Watching the posts and reports over the season show a dramatic improvement in balls/motivation/ambition/idiocy.
hopefully Telepath will see this and post some pics of some Arty50 training days, when TP, hardrider, and I would tell him "hands in front!!!!" before and after every huck and wreck.
But before your ego blows up, remember that I was the first to stick a flat spin 720 with a Banshee off the "fudge packing company" ramp in GTA. Bottle of Radness, beeeyatch! ;)
Ahhhh...soon I will be wallowing in Radness. I see a week or two in Sayulita in my near future.
As for lph's Snowbasin flashback, everything seemed to come together that Saturday. It's a day I'll never ever forget.
The cookies helped too. Mine are better though. :p
Frankly, I have to give my vote to divegirl. First year on skis...damn! After a few more lessons, I'll be following her down the mountain.
I heart the Kirkweed crew...and this is one of the reasons.
Hey Brett, when are you going to teach me moguls? :D I'm going to ski A Basin every day now, when I'm not hiking.
enough of the 'Wood crew,
a few votes for the Utards:
Phunk - of all the Utards that forked their hard-earned dollars out to water ramp last summer - he's the only one that I've seen take it ALL to the snow. The dude goes for it with out a nary worry of crushing a bone or his skull. However, he still can't make first chair if his life depended on it though. :D
PoHo - the kid is becoming a jib monkey
I fully expect to see these two bring their jibbing to their big mountain (as big a mountain as can get at Alta) lines next year - should be really cool to see.
Comeback kids:
Particle - nough said
AC - ACl and cancer to straightlining Starfish Punani's
PoHo - screws in leg and still throwin' down
Gotta give props to brownmonkey.
Watching the grin on his face as all the elements of the powder turn finally dropped into place this Christmas was one of the highlights of my year. He then put the techniques to good use in La Grave and went bigger than ever before in Alpe d'Huez.
Mrs Roo stepped up too. Last season she just ate it all the time in deeper snow. Now she's skiing pow, crud and chutes quite happily and is even taking air (the Gravitar nickname is well and truly dead).
I never skied with Arty v1.0 but having seen Divegirl after just one season, I'd say she's one to look out for in future.
Hey, if i had gone to kirkwood closing day i woulda skied them. :DQuote:

Thanks Xover. I'd say for the Utah crew phUnk has his mad steeze wiz all over the place. That kid throws down not only on the water ramps, but in the park.
Flykdog has upped his skiing like i've never seen since last november.
Nice worky Arty and divegirl...i always like to hear when folks are going for it.
You twooz betta watch out for the sophomore jinx.Quote:

One way around it...don't even go looking for a job or a woman. Just keep rippin', gettin ripped, and dodgin' The Man!
I need to give props to Flanker from the C3 crew for stepping his game up this year.
Flanker has always been crazy but this year he took crazy to a new level. It was great watching his progression as he stuck some crazy sheit (too bad its not on film ... we need to find someone to ski with that likes filming). And he pushed myself and Powfreak to step up our games up as well.
Good Times !!!!
:D :D
I have to agree with Nater on nominating Kellie. I didn't see her ski before this year, but from what I heard during this season, she definitely stepped it up a few times, no question.
Arty IS the mang. I aspire to straightline like him next season. Except for Heart, of course ;)
Thanks for all the props, guys, all of you! I'm blushing :o :D
Speaking of straightlining Heart, hardrider has been thinking about doing exactly that. All I have to say is I beat you to it...albeit not on my feet. :DQuote:

Now, now lets not get silly. I am not thinking of doing exactly that. I just think it would be cool if we had a day like "big thursday", to give it a shot cause it sure wouldnt hurt.
