Yup. With those tires , fork and that battery mine would weigh roughly the same. Horses for courses. Its a big vert adventure waiting to happen. 10k ft and i think his ride time was 4.5 hrs. That deserves a beer or 3

A fit and talented rider will climb a techy trail faster than me on my Ebike any day of the week.

Unless youre competing who cares. Even if you are competing its probably best to focus on youre own game. If you do more your skills will progress. Ebikes allow you to do more than you would otherwise. Youll improve because science
Emtb is similar to a chairlift in some ways. Skiing we bang off repetitive laps on our individual lines over and over and fine tune our skills and then apply those skills elsewhere. Rinse and repeat. No need to overdue it and wreck or hurt yourself. Just keep doing laps and youll be faster and have more control. Same with a bike park and same with an emtb. No need in making that one lap count. Boost up for another lap or 3. If it doesnt hsppen that day. Youve got pocket boost for 2mora

I encourage anyone who has an E-MTB or thinks they may ride one in the future to comment in favor of the proposed re-designation for Class 1 E-MTB's on some trails in the LTBMU (Lake Tahoe area).
Even if you are not in the area or never plan to visit, this is the first attempt I've seen like this on Forest Service land since everything was lumped together a couple years ago.
The outcome of this proposal could have a positive effect nationwide, so input is needed now! The proposal is also endorsed by TAMBA, (Tahoe Area Mountain Bike Association).

Fazua is releasing an extender next year. Or you could just swap out (or carry if not lapping) a full second battery and do everything in full mid power. :biggrin:
Yeah, no surprise it ran out early. I was just surprised that it ran out that fast. I don't think Santa Cruz sells second batteries for the SL (yet).
If both riders are the same weight, putting in the same physical effort, and the bikes have the same level of support in the modes selected, then they SL dies while the Bullit reads 30-40%. But I'd wager the variables weren't equal.
For reference, I have a full power Orbea Wild that I have had for four seasons and I just got a Shuttle SL that is one month old. The Shuttle SL is similar to the Heckler SL. Anyway, IMO, it would be hard to make a evaluation on range on a SL on a one ride demo riding with a group of full power bikes. Like was the bike fully charged when you pick it up and other factors like how much turbo you were using to keep up et et. Some things I have learned with 8 rides on my new bike is that compared to my full powered bike is that it is not as powerful climbing and to ride at that level you need to use turbo alot. On my Orbea I rarely use turbo. So, bottom line is that my SL and probably the Heckler too it wants to be pedaled with leg power and the motor assists. what you get with a SL is a quicker handling bike...........
Seems like 95% of people my age are on ebikes around here. The group ride I want to join, because they're the local builders, are mostly, if not all, on ebikes. For building they're definitely ideal, but I'm still not sold on them as daily drivers.
I commented on a plan to introduce class 1 e-bikes to about 27 miles of trails on Teton Pass. Most of those trails were pioneered and built by a fairly core group of builders, who, as far as I can tell, ALL ride e-bikes now. The entire bike culture that has developed on Teton Pass exists as it does today thanks to these individuals, and many, many volunteer days as Teton Freedom Riders.
The same is true for most of what we ride in Teton Valley (besides the Big Hole’s, which are all legal anyway). Every dude that helped build Horseshoe, Targhee, Mike Harris Area, etc, are riding e-bikes now, and support them.
I do think that there should be some non-ebike places (Cache area, Horseshoe area), but there is something to the fact that individuals that had the vision and fortitude to create an entire thing here also see e-bikes as a valid part of the mix.
