I think I've actually used Eco mode <10 rides in 9 months, similar but slightly more for Trail. My use case for Eco is basically if I go out for a ride and run into a friend on a pedal bike. Trail mode I occasionally use for trying to do very long range rides. Full Trail mode gets me about 30% more range than full Turbo. I've never tried a full Eco ride, mostly because I never have enough time to ride that long.
I've never once thought I needed to turn the motor completely off while riding. For the first few weeks after I got the ebike, I would drop into Trail or Eco while descending because I was nervous about getting a burst of unexpected speed, but then I realized it wasn't an issue, and now just leave it in Turbo all the time. I actually prefer to do that, since it's great to be able to do 1 pedal stroke for a speed boost heading into a jump.
I saw the one comparison of the weight of the motor itself compared to an EP8 which was a bit lighter; not sure what a Bosch motor weighs. The SRAM/Brose might weigh more than an EP8, but I know that the Levo is one of the lightest full power bikes out there (usually around 50 lbs vs 52 lbs for a Bosch powered bike), so I'm pretty sure the total bike package makes more of a difference than the motor. I'd reserve judgement until we see what the complete bikes weigh.
A 170 AXS works for me but I get that it's too short for basically anyone running a size L or greater bike. That said, given that people have been complaining about this for years, I would be shocked if they don't finally release an updated version with 190-220 drop before spring.
