Didn't hear what he was talking about so I don't have a quote but:
I passed some guy on the lower east wall traverse today at abasin who was blocking the traverse while talking on his cell phone.
WTF!?!
While headed to the local hill with the fam. on Sunday, we passed a Subaru with the ski racks running length wise on the factory racks, as in the release of the rack was pointed towards the front on the car. One on the diver side, one on the passenger side. The wife and I were laughing so hard and kind of in disbelief that we forgot to take a pic. Funny thing was, their skis were in the car with them and not on the rack. I so wish they were on the rack.
So I'm @ lost&found looking 4 a Mags ski glove & this older women says to the employee,"Where are the freshes groomed runs?"
A friend riding Moment skis got asked on the chairlift, if his skis were Dutch.
At Jackson Hole earlier this year, my wife spotted a woman with knee pads AND elbow pads ski down the snow steps into the gondola line using the concrete to bring herself to a stop. She took her skis off and headed to the gondola like what she did was totally normal.
I'm willing to wager that the driver didn't know about the pivot function and realized something was amiss when he went to mount the skis, so he just tossed 'em inside the car.
I heard the typical jong question yesterday. First time boarder asked if he could ride up without his board attached, to which the lifty replied no, you're going to have to strap in. The kicker was that he asked, "uh. And how do I do that?"
I always figured it was pretty self explanatory. I saw him approaching the top of the lift, yelling STOP! At the top of his lungs trying to get the lifty to stop the lift entirely, which was followed shortly thereafter by a crash and burn and an awkward crab walk off to the side of the unloading ramp.
thats a pretty good little story,
some people shouldn't go out side,
tv will tell you everything you need to know ...
Tele and no upturned toe. He fails as a gsa disciple.
A lot of ski areas now have cell towers on or near their mountains.
Shut up and ski!
Not on AT&T... they put a DAS network in about a year ago and now you get 4G pretty much everywhere. Still no love for Sprint or Verizon though..
Heard a real gem at the Basin on saturday... While getting booted up, some dude in the next car over says to his buddy "yeah, it should be good.. I just hope they don't shoot any avalanche bullets".
On the lift Saturday with a woman from Dallas who explains that she first visited during the summer. She goes on a rant about mud season. "I don't hike then because I don't like my shoes getting dirty."
If you had one of these bad boys...

Snowboarder chick at Crystal yesterday on way to lift: "It's raining, this is sooo cool!"
In a lift line with my tele's
I hear from behind me "I didn't know they made cross country skis that wide" either a gaper or one of you fucking smart asses.
I work at a ski shop. An Australian couple asked for a locals discount because the apartment they were renting for the week told them "Don't forget to ask for a locals discount!" Fuckers....the Australians and the apartment owners.
Another one, a lady here from the South was with her local friend, and kept begging for some kind of discount on her 60 dollar gloves - and asked for a locals discount because her friend was a local - after respectfully declining, she asked "well how bout my friend just buys them for me and then get the discount?" Sorry lady - that's not how it works.
I hate tourists (or anyone really) taking advantage of small businesses like that. The "locals discount" is set up so the community can give back to our locals, and vise versa. Not so your cheap out-of-town ass can get 10 dollars off an already cheap pair of gloves, or whatever.
K, rant over.
gaper quote is you. People buying shit online or DIY because shops suck so bad now with attitude and shitty service.
Make deals, make people happy, = repeat customers.
Being a elitist precious commodity whore? Fail.
We give excellent service. Most of the time if you're a nice person, no matter where you're from, you'll get a better discount then if you had asked for it. Often times skis go out the door for cost. And I also didn't mention that both of these people ended up getting discounts anyways. But a business is a business and I can't go giving discounts to everyone that asks for it. So think I'm up tight all you want.
Besides - these two people were from out of town, yarite I'm never seeing them again. Doesn't sound like you've ever worked retail.
