What is the best site for forecasts for Baker proper? On standby over the next few weeks waiting for a good weather window.
Also, any good spots to stay for a night or two in Glacier would be greatly appreciated as well.
I’m finding the noaa forecasts out here to be pretty meh, and lacking a lot of useful detail that you’d want.
If you follow him daily/regularly, I like Michael Snyder from PNW Weather watch. He dives into the different forecasting models, and how their tracks compare, etc.
TBH I’m sure there are others here with deeper resources, but I’m a fan of his model comparison approach and regional focus.

I've heard it's silent E as well, but people will say different stuff. E$ aka Hedonaut has done a bit of exploring in that zone and told me some tales. I believe that eastern couloir on Goode was first skied by Jason Hummel and friends (maybe Kyle Miller? you can find an old TR somewhere)

Sounds good. We are going to keep our eyes on the weather and do what's best. Any suggestions for other places? We are coming with backpacking gear and prepared for a couple nights in the back country. My buddy lives in Ellensburg so the enchantments came to mind first. Yes if you're in Ellensburg you could try the Teanaway (although Stuart is apparently already pretty melted out). Snoqualmie pass would probably be thin down low but okay above 4k or so and has pretty interesting terrain like the Mt Snoqualmie couloirs, pillow lines, and tree zones that are good in storms. Second the recommendation of the Chiwaukum range (could do the traverse). Highway 20 is currently open for North Cascades access. And down towards the Mt Adams way are the goat rocks which is a cool zone albeit fairly alpine so not great in bad weather. If it's really stormy, maybe going up Steven's pass and riding pow in the closed resort or the backcountry zones in that area could be good.Quote:

Yo! I’ve been away a couple weeks so I’m not too up to speed on local conditions….however! I’ve heard the Teanaway is thinning out fast. I would probably go for the south end of the Chiwaukums, via Chatter creek. It will seem dry going up Chatter, but when you get over the first pass onto shady aspect it will improve a lot! Camp up past grindstone somewhere near Ladie’s Pass. There are some fun runs to take there. The Enchantments would be fun too, high enough to have plenty of snow and far enough east for clearer skies. Of the two it’s hard to pick a clear winner. Might be quicker to get up high in the enchantments, and the peaks and runs are all classics for a reason. The Chiwaukum method will likely yield less other users. Either way, the less than perfect weather is your ally in having it to yourself!
