If you’re looking at using a torque wrench when doing things like cranks, fork to caps, BB, center lock rotors, cassette, you’ll need a 3/8” drive as well, and maybe a 1/2” or higher torque 3/8” depending on the torque ranges of the specific model.

CDI. It’s owned by Snapon and are identical minus the ratchet head. They are way cheaper than Snapon yet same quality. Light years better than the plastic stuff from park or any of the cheap imports.

In my mind torque wrenches are not a place you want to go cheap. Buy quality ones and always back them off when storing them so they remain accurate. Cheap ones don’t stay calibrated for long in my experience.
Anyone have a recommendation for a small, somewhat weatherproof pouch in which to put CO2, plug kit and a few tools and then heli-strapped to a frame? I feel like most of the mountain bike specific products out there are too big for me since they leave room for a spare tube and it feels silly buying something with a strap when I have several dozen ski straps laying around already

I'm using a 76Projects Piggy Pouch which holds a Pirelli lightweight tube, 2x 20oz CO2 & an inflator head, a mini Leatherman, a tiny roll of Gorilla tape, some bandaids, and some zip ties with room to spare. Net size is a bit bigger than a clenched fist.

I'm OK with replacing it 3 times for less than the price of the CDI.
I have the 3/8” and 1/2” version of that one. I think the other 1/4” Teckton I posted earlier is a nice upgrade from it. Not a big enough difference that I’d replace a perfectly good wrench, but if I needed to buy one again I wouldn’t hesitate to spend the little bit extra.Quote:

Harbor Freight ones are fine for bike use. There's a range of acceptable torque on all the common fasteners, almost nothing requires that much precision on a bike.
To me it depends if it locks (as in vise grip) or just squeezes down (as in pliers). If it locks down, buy it, if not, it's less good than a whip, IMO.Quote:

Picked up a Wilton C3 vise this weekend for a stupid cheap price. It fully dwarfs the 6-½” tradesman that I restored a few years ago. Selling the tradesman will fully cover the costs of the C3. Plan is to do a full restoration of the C3 with some upgrades / mods similar as I did to the tradesman.
Also ended up with a 80lb Vulcan Anvil, a Pexto sheet metal roller and a nice heavy as fuck welding table made from ½” plate. In a take it all Facebook market place deal

Looks like the phone kits include:
Wera torque drivers and all the special bits you need.
Custom built presses for aligning and installing parts.
Precision heated jigs for separating adhesive sealed components
The kits are customized for each device. Different tools for a laptop vs a phone, jigs that fit the specific model, etc.
Totally unnecessary for most DIY repairs like battery swaps. Most aftermarket batteries come with a cheapo tripoint and pentalobe screwdriver anyways and if you are replacing a battery in a 3 year old device, I think you'll be fine if you torque by feel or risk a little scuffing on the case when you pry it apart.
Would be cool to play with though.

and I'm in the Makita ecosystem. part of me thinks it's cool and would be a huge timesaver and pretty sweet, part of me thinks I'm be a total wuss if I went from a hand pump to a powered inflator.
Anybody have this one? Any thoughts on inflators in general? This one is 45 LPM - strong enough to avoid breaking out the pancake compressor for seating tubeless tires?

I've got a Makita 1gal air compressor which I basically only use for seating tires and blowing out dust, and I have a hard time seeing how something smaller and battery powered would work for that. Maybe for adding pressure when they're already seated, but no way for installing tires.
I own that Makita, it's too slow to seat tubeless tires IMO. I've never tried it for that purpose - I definitely could be wrong!
Great for airing up truck tires and endless inflatables my little kids have.
