Although they're out of stock, K-VAR has double-stack Bulgarian 5rnd magazines. I have one that I've used for bench shooting at the range. The 30rnd mags can get in the way due to how far the come down out of the receiver.

I was just reading a review for a LaRue tactical red-dot sight for the AK, replaces the rear iron sight bar. I like the basic idea of it since it doesn't necessitate pulling off your smooth handguards for a bunch of lumpy, heavy rails. Plus strapping a bunch of shit on an AK makes sense no does, talk about heavy.
I like the Eotech. Makes for super fast target acquisition. I plan to buy a magnifier with a flip mount to install behind it at some point. And if the batteries die, the Troy flip ups are great irons with the ghost ring reticle.
As far as the AK, I don't think I'll use anything other than the irons. I'm too much of a purist.

I've got a question for the gun mags, I'm looking for a good 22 bolt action rifle. I want it to be accurate, have iron sights, and the ability to easily mount a scope (pic rail would be great). I don't care whether its single shot or mag fed, or what size mag it takes. Oh yea, and for under $500.
Any ideas?

I'd get a CZ 452, although I'm not certain it fits your cost requirements. Probably pretty close tho.

Just picked up a Kimber Custom Defender II .45 ACP...
Ran 500 rounds through it last weekend... ZERO malfunctions and accurate as fuck! Bought a bunch of Wilson Combat mags and magwell for it. As soon as my department has qualifications again, it'll be my new duty weapon.

Yup...I am not an experienced marksman with a rifle by any means but I got 4 shots in a row in the yellow from 100 yards yesterday--two of them on top of each other, simply using a picnic table. Pretty impressive for an old, cheap gun and budget 150 grain bullets plus a guy who barely knows how to use any of it.Quote:

Anyone have experience with the FN Five-Seven?
I got an FNP-9 a couple months ago. I know it's a different cartridge and not even really the same design, but it's pretty rad as far as semi-auto pistols go. The recoil is less than other 9's I've used, it doesn't throw the cases 10 feet away (easier to find for reloading) and it's performed flawlessly - usually I get a few missfires and stovepipes and stuff with new autos. FN Herstal is a good company. I'd think it would be really really tough getting ammo for the 5.7.

That round (and the HK designed 4.7mm) were designed to penetrate body armor, with a short cartridge that could still fit in a handgun. Thanks for the info guys, sounds like the 5.7 isn't a great choice. I had a line on some old stock SS109 (enough to fill the gun). Part of the attraction of the combo is the fact that the guvmint doesn't want me to have it. Still, sounds impractical.

I got a slightly used HK USP compact, 3 mags, a holster, 60 rounds of .40 and a NIB G17 for it. :D I had it on a forum for $1200, and no real nibbles, I dropped it to $1100 and did this trade. He said it honestly was probably worth ~$1400, I just wanted to get it in someone's hands that would enjoy it.Quote:
