Fuck cancer. My best friend’s mom passed away yesterday from pancreatic cancer after a long battle. She was one very classy lady.
My Dad was diagnosed with throat cancer this past November. He reluctantly went through radiation and chemo. Had his follow-up scan a couple weeks ago which showed no signs of cancer in throat but some small signs in lungs. Had a biopsy this past Thursday which showed positive cancer cells in lungs. Waiting for lab results for course of action. Anybody have an idea what we should expect? I would guess at minimum another round of chemo?
Sometimes not enough good stories in this thread, found out today two women we’re close-ish with were informed they are both in complete remission with multiple myeloma...so they both fucked cancer

That is awesome. Thanks for posting it!
NESN Red Sox color man Jerry Remy has had lung cancer 5 times and has recovered each time, he's on the air doing games this year, he looks healthy to me. He credits early detection, aggressive treatment and good doctors. Hang in there frush.
I mentioned it earlier in this thread, but my Sister-in-law had stage four breast cancer and a year and a half later is in full remission with all of her reconstructive surgery finished. We took her and her husband to Hawaii to celebrate.
My MIL got breast cancer six months after my SIL and also beat it thanks to a nurse practitioner who gave her a manual exam even after a clean mammogram. They found a small lump and were able to get it out early. It was so aggressive that she may not have made it if she had waited six months to find it.
Cancer fucking sucks. Even for the survivors. but there is always hope.
Good luck to everyone putting up the good fight. You all got this.
Just checking in, friends. How's it going, FYC? How are you and how is M? Thinking of you guys.
I have 2 more chemo to go- one tomorrow and the last one is the end of May. Still radiation to go, but it feels like I'm through the crux. Still strong, still riding my bike and working out, and the trails are starting to open up.
Take care, all.
Good work, salsa.
Keep it up hms. Giver man.
Give ‘em Hell HMS
Excellent.
keep moving, hms!!
Today is chemo day. Not sure how the wife will react to it. Spoke to her earlier and she was is good spirits still. BTW. The CT scan came up clean. No cancer cells in her liver. Her fallopian tubes have already been removed. Along with most everything else. Reached out to a group therapy and got shut down. Turns out the therapy was for some form of rare neuro cancer. They would not let me join their group. I piped in that my wife's cancer pretty rare also. 300 Americans have it. That 300 for a population of 322million. Eff those guys. I got TGR for support.

FYC- Sent you a link via PM. Good news to start chemo with. Holler if I can help in any way.

^^ At first glance this does seem heartless, but on the other hand, if this group was set up for a particular purpose, and you don’t qualify, I can see that. Seems like there should be more support groups around that you would qualify for, but maybe that depends on your location.
Anyway, like they said, TGR has got your back. Stay strong.
Chemo update 1. My wife had chemo on wednesday. 2 days out and she is still feelink ok. Tired of course and sleeping a lot. So far she has been eating ok and able to walk around the neighborhood. I poached some lilacs from the Villa to make her recovery at home smell just a little better. For me I found a cancer wellness center downtown that offers group therapy. That starts next week for me. (M) my wife is totally going to beat this. Her attitude is amazing. Thanks TGR.

That last post sounded pretty good, FYC. Glad to hear it.
And yeah, we're here for you.
Good to see it's starting well--and good on you tending to the smells FYC. Smelling unwelcome things with unexpected intensity can be the worst/most hurl-inducing feature of chemo. GL to you both, keep up that attitude!
Exactly, jono. I usually love triple cream brie, but one bad day Panchosdad brought me some, the smell got up my nose, and it went downhill from there. Better now!
FYC- glad you found a local source for support. I know our TGR clan has a ton of experience, but nothing beats real people who are right there. For me, the edible indica was a game-changer in tolerating the nasty chemo- both physically and mentally/ emotionally.

Mine was the faintest smell of dishwasher soap. Couldn't handle the dishwasher being open, ever. Such a PITA when no one else can smell a thing but it's turning your stomach! One day my MIL told my wife it was just my imagination. I think she's forgiven my response by now. Hopefully.
Good that you can handle the brie again! I think my only long term casualty is Panera, thankfully.
