Hey, stop bagging on MTBR. Where else would we learn how to tune a Mezzer?
Just think how much worse TGR forums wood bee if for no mtbr?
The main reason I stopped spending any time there is because it seems that every thread is the same 6-8 people having the same inane conversation. Sure there’s stupidity and jerkiness here too, but there’s also a lot more variety along with genuine discussion and solid advice.
They are currently debating downhill rider yielding to climber for the 80,000th time. Same exact arguments as always but apparently it has a more elusive answer than even the airplane on a treadmill question.
Well, if this place does die at least we have a home there!
Someone riding downhill got upset that a person moved out of the way for them? WTF
Ha. But you'd never get away with the pure volume of retarded arguments here without getting called out for it.
mtbr still exists?
^^^ To be fair, I'm pretty sure MTBR's forum allows you to post pictures, edit and quote posts, and doesn't shit the bed every 3 weeks.
That is true, and yet they rarely post anything that is useful, interesting or stoke-worthy.
"^^^ To be fair, I'm pretty sure MTBR's forum allows you to post pictures, edit and quote posts, and doesn't shit the bed every 3 weeks" Current version of "Reply with Quote"
What do you mean?

Thinking about this more, MTBR would be a much better forum if its keyboard warriors couldn't quote posts, or if they did the reply-to brought up random posts. It might at least slow them down a bit and get them to think twice before hitting submit on more pointless drivel. They seldom post riding pics anyways so inability to do that doesn't matter. And it would be amusing to see them try and figure out the whole Guyonabuffalo thing.
So MTBR decided to give everyone three months free access to their premium membership tier.
The main benefit is no ads. You also get access to a premium member only subforum (that only has seven threads, and disappointingly none of them include trash talking of non premium members - theyre more of the is anyone in here flavor LOL). And most importantly you get a star next to your user name!
But multiple threads have appeared with members who are angry that this membership has been forced upon them. They think MTBR is trying to trick them into paying for a membership 3 months from now when the trial expires (nevermind MTBR does not have their credit card info or any way to automatically charge them).
But MTBR members never waste an opportunity to get outraged over nothing.

I wasnt that fussed about this matter, until I read the sentence from you per below, and my jaw dropped.
"I have no idea why you wouldnt want"
Let me tell you why.
Its about consent.
Its about the end-user having agency, having choice.
Its about NOT being manipulated. This is part of the worst of rapacious capitalism... forcing something on to the user, getting them used to it, then making them pay for it if they want to keep it....when they didnt even ask for it in the first place. Not giving them/me a choice is not ok.
A great business seeks to deeply understand what its customers want, and WHY. This is the opposite of that.
Im not being given money now (I cant go out and spend it), Im being lured into spending money in 3 months time... BIG difference.
I dont know if MTBR has broken any laws, but, I do know that no other site I engage with has done this.
