I agree with danno on this. The problem is the 'representative' aspect of the republic has been subverted by big money and alleged representatives who take the big money and do as they're told.
They don't make choices based on their constituients but on keeping their overpaid government jobs and pensions by sucking big money dick and doing as they're directed.
