Old rangers had a 7' bed with the single cab. I found it an ideal truck when I was single and wanted the space of a pickup without needing to tow/haul heavy. The area behind the seats was surprisingly roomy compared to other single cabs I have been in.Quote:

Lowering to 5k you open up the mid size SUV V6 engine market. Durango and Grand Cherokee have 6k towing but not sure of reliability.
I don't trust the tow capacities, especially on steep high elevation mountain passes, both in terms of how well it can tow and what kind of damage the towing does. My own experience as well as that of a few friends is that hard sided campers should be towed by full size trucks and not mid-sized SUVs/trucks. I don't want to be one of those guys doing 30 in the right lane heading up Georgetown hill on I-70, and don't want to be worrying what kind of wear and tear I am doing to my vehicle as I struggle up that hill.Quote:

FWIW the platform is looking fairly legit IRL. There are definitely gremlins that they're ironing out..but the mechanical side and drivetrain look pretty impressive for a brand new platform, let alone company.Quote:

What did you end up doing with your Sequoia issues? I had a similar problem with my 02' Sequoia, July last year. Was at 260k and the mechanic quoted me $3k+ while also needing another timing belt in the next year. So, I called it on sinking more money into my favorite car. Had similar requirements for my next vehicle and ended up in a 17' 3.5l F150 with the supercab. It's a bigger truck than I really wanted, but it was the only thing that ticked most of my boxes while staying under 30k. I've been really happy with it. Managed to get 25 MPG driving all the way to Cabo and back last fall, but generally get 20ish driving around the CO mountains.Quote:

I haven't done anything. I decided that it (mostly) seems ok, so I don't need to rush; I momentarily lost confidence in it which created a sense of urgency that was mostly in my head. Long term, I am still looking. I am considering newer Sequoias (probably in the 2014-2018 range) but also plan on looking at just what you got, F150 supercab, and similar. Need to look at the rear seats and decide if they will work for me, and drive one and decide if I am ok with it being a daily driver.Quote:

I was really interested in the Grenadier (SUV version) and was on their list/have been following it. I still think it's an awesome vehicle, but I've cooled a good bit on it. 14 or 15 mpg overall on a modern 191 in long SUV is pretty terrible. That's Wrangler Rubicon 391 territory and below some much larger SUV's like the Suburban with the Z71 off road package. The price was also a bit higher that I'd have liked. Not really unreasonable given it looks like a well built, niche vehicle, but a bit higher than I hoped given the initial statements about what range they were aiming at.Quote:
