DAMN. Way to Get Some Spencer!
Those munchkins pics are sweet. Nice send, and I like the new name too.
Emerald bay froze a few weeks back but even that is fairly rare. I think the lake will turnover due to temp gradients before it can freeze and it just doesn't get that cold for that long here to freeze such a deep lake.
Nicely done! That is no joke of a line.
Question, does that small chute/straightline lookers left of M0(air belay) that looks like it goes actually seem doable? Anyone ever done it? It looks as though you could make turns to about the crux but from my recollection of the terrain there is really no way to scrub your speed once you get out. Is that the case?
I'll be at Alpine tomorrow through Saturday, anyone around?
In case you want a mathematical formulation of the lake freezing process:

Corn should be cooked up tomorrow in sunniest locales or Thursday on many SE-SW slopes.

Thanks to Sam and HiGrade1 for the shots. I cant even explain my frustration not being able to come up with a helmet cam for this line after going through 2 this year but the line just couldn't wait. This was my first time in M0 and i want to give props to anyone who has ever skied this line through the gnarly switchback traverse skiers left cause that line looks way gnarlier to me! But the line was just about perfect yesterday and begged to be done- snow was super stable after ski cuts near the trees. The air was awesome but unfortunately the bottom chute was snowed in a lot and was not the 40-45 degree landing i was expecting, more like 30 degrees. I thought the landing might be deeper in the wind-pocket but was still pretty windpacked like the rest of the mountain yesterday, I punched thru only about 18inches on the landing but took it well enough to land back on my feet and ski out with both skis right after it tossed me one revolution. It could only have been better with 2 feet of fresh maybe ill get a chance at full redemption with a helmet cam later this year...

In regards to the M0 line..... Why would you not get better pics and/or video if you're gonna throw down a once in a lifetime line like that? Not to be harsh, but you can't really tell if it was actually aired out or not. With that said, I've been in there, and I would never ever ever send that. You are the f'n man. The pictures do not give it justice.

OK, I spoke with 666. He's abdicating his role as Chairman of the Longboard Day this season. Too much other stuff coming up in his non-ski life.
So, I'm taking the reins and hereby declaring that this year's LBD will be held at Alpine Meadows on Saturday, April 23. This is the same day that Alpine is planning Snow Golf and the two should go together just fine.
You know the rules. Snowboards over 200cm, skis over 210cm. The crazier the outfit, the better.

i knew when i went to bed sunday night i wouldn't be leaving kt on monday... the first couple turns monday morning sealed the deal.
sometimes i pretend i'm having fun when i'm skiing elsewhere, but really i'm just talking to myself saying let's get back to the mothership!
i actually really like headwall, but don't usually go there on days like monday when everybody is swarming it.
my thrill is the sensation of continuous turning. the pallisades don't have much to offer in that regard... sometimes i'll make some turns in extra, but that's about it.
one of the coolest things about squaw is that there are so many different ways to enjoy it... i love to see the pallisades stoke and am hoping i bag my second chimney line ever later this year.
