I much prefer a full alpine boot. Having tech fittings means its no worries to use when I might but probably wont need to skin. Or if you skin but not a big day of skinning.

I did my first 2 seasons touring in full alpine boots...and Fristchis... So, while I would never recommend skinning in full alpine boots, it's not the worst thing in the world. I have already tried that!!

I have the last run of Kryptons with the fittings.

Limited use for sure but would be nice for inbound riding on dual use skis mounted with tectons or other burl pin clamps.

$80 add on for good marketing hype and pleases a few pros and niche people. I would be curious if it would actually serve CAST and Shift people better than a hybrid considering the my tend not to tour much at all but at least they can if they want. Just the toe, no walk mode.

For my needs in Japan, that's fucking rad, and is my next boot if it fits. Not having to shell out 400 bucks to have CAST do it to my Langes sounds awesome.

Funny how I haven't even skied it and have no idea if it sucks.

Any other solutions for tech fittings in my Lange RS aside from CAST doing it?

Almost all of my touring has been on Shifts (had some Tyrolia Ambition's before). I could deal with all of their shortcomings except heel elasticity. I have Duke PT's now. They haven't been touring yet, but they resort ski well (only 2 days so far).

My touring is very limited as a Dad with kids that ski. Once my kids are old enough to tour with me maybe I'll get a more serious setup. For now the Duke PT makes sense.

FWIW, the Duke PT is gaining popularity quickly out here. At least with resort/slack country users. In our locker room Dukes outnumber Shifts probably 5:1 this year. Very few Shifts left in rotation.

I'd try them again if they make changes to the heel.

Really a cool resort addition with the Duke PT. Toss your skins in your jacket/vest/pack and you're ready for a slack country or hiking mission.

I'm generally OK skinning with my buckles loosened. I've had times with my XT3's that they locked out of walk mode and I didn't notice.

Thanks for that heads up, I didn't know they existed.

This type of boot is exactly what I want, a no compromise resort boot with the ability to click into a cast/shift/Duke for an occasional 20min skin.

I don't wanna be touring far on a shift anyway, I have a proper touring set up for proper touring.

boa team 140 won’t be till next season. So I’d wait for that over the buckle version. Or get the Fischer. Though that lakers themed colors are absolutely hideous

not news, but more info on the new Dynafit Ridge Pro touring boot with some useful closeups detailing the internal mechanism.

I can't help but wonder what if any progressivity is in the flex of these - as much as a 1200gr boot can be progressive when being supportive. The current version of the Hoji lock seems to create a system with very limited forward progressiveness due to the two contact points on the side of the system touching parts of the lower shell that cannot bend in any meaningful way. This is obviously less of a concern if you are only banging out laps in fresh snow off piste, yet your shins will still take a beating if you have to ski variable or icy snow. Time will tell.

I've been skiing for two years on the hoji 130 and no shin bang at all. I actually feel they are pretty progressive.

after finding a crack in my Cochise 130 dyns, I’ve gone back to my Lange Rx130s I had Cast do the tech fittings. Unless I can get Technician to warranty, I think I may be back to riveted boots with this kinda setup for 90% of my skiing. These Fischers look cool.

Not arguing with you just another data point. (25.5s)
The k2’s have a shorter length vs RS140 for me but a slightly wider heel/ankle and toebox.

I’d say try on a pair if you can Gaijin

This was my experience as well. Heel and ankle especially feel roomier in the K2.

Love to see the discussion about tech toe fixed cuff boots. This is our Recon 140 BOA for next season. We included the new Intuition ProWrap BOA liner too. As has been said the fit was based on the Lange RX originally but we did make some changes mainly to try to improve how anatomical it is but like any boot it wont fit everyone. I know there are at least 2 tech toe fixed boots coming so Im excited to see this segment grow. If any one has any F24 K2 questions let me know.

Funnily I originally had it planned as a 120 but was constantly told to go stiffer but I still think a 120 with a power plate and tech toe would be rad!

The main changes were mainly to the medial side where we added a “bode” punch which is basically just a little more space for the cuneiform. It’s a pretty common punch so we just added some shape here. We also widened the toe box slightly and gave it a more asymmetrical fit as that’s what feet actually look like. This change is what I think makes people think the boots fit long as the foot actually fits to the end of the shell better. Other than that though it’s really pretty similar.

The fit did not change from buckle to boa so yes those fit features can be found on the current models.

Yeah for the most part fit will always be the same for the same boot in different flex’s as the mold stays the same for all models. Generally the stiffer flex boots will get a higher quality, stiffer liner which can make them feel a little different but the shell will nearly always be the same.

Recon LV and Mindbender are the same fit correct?
