If you want to talk about roundness and technique take a look at The Fat Man in the Bathtub. Inertia is good. Also, fact;)

Cannon seems to be getting the shaft during an already crap season. Had to close for 5 days over Xmas due to power outage and wind damage. I expect another closure this week if the forecast rain happens. It was 50 today.
Felt like April. BROD (brown ribbon of death)
Happy new year. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...e55ce78543.jpg

Happy New Year!
^^ so much for the silver lining of a bulletproof base we were expecting a week ago.
very nice sunrise you captured there.
may the next snowpack be a keeper!
Happy New Year everyone! Time for us all to put 2022 behind us and strive for a better 2023. and FFS, if it's not going to snow can it at least be cold? WROD > BROD.
Yes!
Agreed. Happy new year, everybody. We did get to slide on some soft snow at Platty yesterday but the difference from Monday was dramatic

Happy New Year! The dog wants a walk, wind is howling and I’m loading up for a dump run. Here’s to the ECRC big finish!

Happy New Years mags!!
Looks like the new year also means a new start to building a natural base. It's so ugly what above freezing nighttime temps can do.
Re-start begins Thursday night with at least colder temps (if still above normal). There are several chances for minor snow therafter with potential for bigger but models not biting yet. Indications pattern continues to cool 2nd half of January. Although drivers are different, it does seem like a repeat of 2nd half colder temps we saw in November and December. Would be nice if it just kept on being cold......
What's left to ski is soft and fun!
That place is on my list. Looks like it would be fun place to go to after a mid week storm. It’s a 3-ish hours drive from the Loaf, or 4.5 from Portland and it doesn’t look like there is much else around the area which could be good or bad depending on your perspective

Akok and I agree. Tomato Basil is “good” this year.

The relative proximity is a draw coupled with latitude and elevation. More average snow than the loaf.. Adjacent to the ski area is a provincial parc of the same name with bc skiing. Some intermediate terrain at the parc, but proposed more advanced terrain for this year which I could not find much information. Ski area looks to have a good amount of advanced terrain
^^ or the more active; i'd flask that!
we might have time to design and order and ad-campaign
the branded flasks before we have any cold, snowy peak-sell days
:fm:: that's a solid anti-jinx if i ever saw one
Spring has sprungeth.
Happy new year!

It was really nice spring skiing this morning. First day at Mt Ellen. They finally started running the northridge lift and we gambled that they could keep it running. Got in a bunch of laps with no one there. Bit socked in up high. Best skiing of the year!

Got in a couple of days at Sutton. Its a good hill if you've never been and curious about it. 45 mins from Jay, interesting terrain, lots of double-fall line runs- almost felt a little like a mellower General Starks Mtn. Mostly fixed grip old-school lifts. Would be pretty fun on a pow day I would think. Seems like the forecast temps have dropped a little, bring on the rebound...
50, sunny, and dry… I embraced it and pulled the motorcycle out of the garage for the first ride of 2023. I’d rather be skiing but waddya gunna do?

It was a good day to be outside if you could
Now it’s the long night

Does anyone have a recommendation for a side angle bevel on the Bauers? Thinking about going for a backcountry skate / polar bear swim. We'll see!
Well?

well I skied a little bit over the holidays; Bristol up in WNY last Wednesday, they didn't have a ton open but it was like 35 sunny and soft, fun day cruising around with my pops, felt like one of the good ol' days!
headed up to Jay for New Years; skied Friday thru Monday and I have to say that Friday and Saturday really exceeded expectations; they still had a bunch of terrain open and it felt like true spring skiing. Saturday was a blast with a big crew, we skied in Hawaiian shirts, grilled hot dogs in the parking lots, drank beers on the lift, it was a blast. Sunday was still soft, but the wind was blowin' sideways and we were all banged up from NYE so got a few runs in and called it. Monday we lapped some of the easier terrain before heading home, the base had definitely firmed up a bit but we got like 2" of Jay cloud cream-cheese on top which skied surprisingly well.
All in all a great time over the holidays, but really hoping for some dang snow sometime soon. Cheers everyone!
yesterday was nice spring conditions in my neck of the woods with limited trails open. this week is going to be tough with rain forecast through thursday at 1500 ft
Rejoice snowmaking ponds are full throughout the northeast
