It was a good afternoon

I definitely didn't feel that last chair was best chair. For me at Alta best chair was 1pm an hour into the heavy snow but before it got too crowded. After that it did start to come down much harder nonstop but so did the people. Every chair was taken on Wildcat (and I think Collins too) and there is only so much terrain for everyone so despite the heavy snow the people were skiing it off quicker than it came down. I ended up leaving an hour early since it was clearly not getting better despite the heavy snow.
^this fucking guy
What is with "this fucking guy"??? I was there dude. 1pm was definitely best chair off Wildcat. Every chair on Wildcat after that was taken and where exactly do you think all those people went to ski? Up to Baldy? Through Keyhole? Everyone went down the same few paths. Not even hugging the trees, the lift towers, or the rocks got you fresh powder. Everything was getting skied rapidly. And even at 3pm there were a line of cars coming down into parking looking for spots.
lol jong
Brags about skiing 150 days a year and being a millionaire.
Won't ski the cirque 'cause its too rocky.
Leaves Alta early on a storm day.
Doesn't understand people giving him a hard time.
Cry me a river.

Never seen a red snake at 6 am. crazy busy up there this morning. Alta was turning people around by 915.
Still need a lot more snow but the low angle noodling was fun.
I wonder whether the parking lot opens up by 11:00???

"that powder was too deep for me, you guys just don't know what you're missing - trust me, i ski at alta" -- kevin, probably
10420 skied great today, but boy howdy is it touchy out there. pulled out 3 decent sized pockets in the promised land and saw a ton of shooting cracks.
stay safe out there everyone, especially you kevsters
^ yea i got turned around.... entered the canyon at like 730 - thought id be good to go, gave a solid thought of going to Solly but paid parking and like 11 runs open was certainly a disuasion. Gunna head up at noon... or hit the GBC
Wow 730 and turned around? Bummer.

Bullshit. I entered the canyon right after 740 and parked at Sunnyside which was about halfway filled up.
It wasn't worth it anyways. Despite getting there "late" there weren't that long of lines yet at Collins and Wildcat so I immediately got in Wildcat line. I stood there for over an hour watching every Alta employee from the entire ski school to ski patrol and I think even some lifties do lap after lap after lap of Wildcat for well over an hour. Collins and Wildcat opened late but Wildcat opened 15 minutes before Collins did. First chair of Wildcat got off when I was about halfway up Wildcat. But I don't think even the first guy got fresh tracks. Everything was completely tracked out as I made my way up. PUnch Bowl, Stimulation, everything on the way up was tracked first time up. There might had been some short tight lines still available in Westward Ho I couldn't see but I doubt it as I saw plenty of tracks coming back from that area. I spied one or two very thin lines in Stimulation that were semi-fresh so I did that which was ok. Got back to the bottom and stood in an over 30 minute long line for Wildcat (Collins was just as bad). After over 30 minutes I rode up Wildcat and saw that the entire mountain had been thoroughly gangbanged. I did a run of some soft chop and decided that although I like soft chop it is not worth 30 minute waits in line so took the rope tow back to my car. Getting off rope tow I saw Sunny Side didn't have too bad of a line and hopped on Sunnyside just so I wouldn't have to hike up to my car. Thought maybe I'd get lucky and spy a fresh line on Vail Ridge. Vail Ridge was all fresh but only because it was closed. At top of Sunnyside saw Sugarloaf lines were just as bad as Collins and Wildcat. But virtually everything off Sugarloaf was untouched.... because I assume it was all roped off. Between Blue Bell and Sunnyside was actually a huge untouched field of powder. Obviously flat but at least I got a surfy feel for a few hundred feet. Went home and every single space that could remotely qualify as a parking spot was filled. Road down was completely clear. I doubt Snowbird was any better as coming down I saw the lines for Mid-Gad and Gadzoom to be just as bad as Collins and Wildcat. I assume Little Cloud was much worse.
Once there is a base and the holiday crowds (which apparently are already here) leaves I will get excited for skiing, otherwise I will just listen to all you guys instead talk about how Alta doesn't get anymore epic then hour long waits for skied out soft chop and how I'm not a real local if I expect more than 2 powder turns in a day.
I agree Alta sucks and you should go to deer valley or maybe try Sundance.
On a positive note my local hill is opening tomorrow and anyone wants to join us in the north this season for some laps hit me up. Happy to show you around since I know the mountain pretty well and where to find the good snow!

When did I once brag about skiing 150 days? I do not think you know what 'brag' means. Look it up.
When did I say I don't ski the Cirque? Once there is a base the Cirque is mostly all I ski. Again you guys got Tanner Hall reading comprehension levels.
What is wrong with leaving on a storm day? Some of the worst ski days ever have been storm days. Just like some of the best have been. How does a "storm day" automatically qualify a day as good?
While I skied today, and yesterday, and the day before that, you have spent your time sitting at a cubicle at work arguing with a guy on the internet about HIS OPINIONS. So yeah, that pretty much says all about you that needs to be said.
When did I say Alta sucks? Is that the only way you can argue with people by making shit up and then arguing against that fallacy? But hey you are arguing on the internet with a stranger about his own opinion so I guess that makes you the cool guy.
Go ahead, please tell me more about how this was the greatest day skiing in the history of Alta and how I have no clue what good skiing is even if a heli dropped me off at it.
Skiing is fun. I like to ski. I like to ski bunny slopes and steep slopes. I like to ski trees and bowls. Resort or backcountry is just fine with me.
Skiing any day is great and I don’t like negative skiers. Sam I am, just no green eggs or ham!

^^^^ So you counter my opinion that the resort skiing wasn't great today by posting a pic of a tree with snow on it and some back country pics of some flat terrain? Umm ok.... And you're fat.
You seem like a good bro. I'm sure many from this board located in utah probably can't wait to link up with you. I'm sad I moved away. If I visit I'll sure pm ya, maybe you can show me the secret stashes?
Lol having skied alta a bit. Even on the most crowded day, someone who knows their way around can always find the goods...Kevin's mileage must vary.

... And notice at no time have I argued with your OPINION. You said you enjoy skiing bunny slopes and that you think bunny slopes are fun. Ok fine. I don't have a problem with that OPINION. That is not my opinion. But if you love the bunny slopes and think they are exciting then fine, I'm not going to waste 2 pages of a TGR thread trying my hardest to invalidate your opinion.
ABSOLUTELY NOT COOL dude. Seriously I really really make an effort to not be negative or put people down in this forum like at all. I bring stoke and laughs; you bring negativity and hubris. I wont even say you should leave but say you hold back commenting on folks physical appearance.
Have you been attacked? Yes. Do I think you opened yourself up to it? Yes. Am I guilty of the same? Yes.
I ask you recalibrate your approach to people here, there are alot of rad dudes / dudettes here and are definitely worth staying in the good standing with. Chances are one of them is going to reach or help you out at some point.
Even when 90% of the mountain is still closed uh? I have more days at Alta then you do. I know where all the secrets are. I can get fresh tracks days after a storm..... but not when it is closed.
... I only intended to make one post here about my take on today, but if you guys just absolutely insist on arguing with me about my opinions that is different than yours (u guys must be liberals) then we can keep filling up this thread about that instead of "WASATCH STOKE, CONDITIONS, AND OBSERVATIONS". Up to you guys.
I bring "negativity" by merely stating my opinion that this was not the greatest ski day in the history of skiing??? Wow you guys are snowflakes if you can't take a simple "meh"
Yeah how rude of me. To merely state my opinion, be attacked for it, then respond to those attacks. Man what a monster I am.
