How about we sled into the base of the SW couloir of Cascade, then wait for it to get nice and sunny?

Guess the mille gazex wasn't coperating, so skied hidden canyon laps all day steep shots that hadn't naturaled were pretty easily ski cut and sluff was slow but plentiful and dense
face shots o plenty

plenty of sub 30 degree slopes with this

most appeared overnight but a few smaller ones sympethically released on putting return traverse in.
today = greatest snow on earth
Slight surface instabilities at 9K feet in BCC. Sluffing was happening at on the rain crust from Sunday night. Snow was light, in the 3-5% department.
East aspects around 9k seamed to be getting stronger. The interfaces below the storm snow were easier to pull out yesterday than today in ct's.

Not as deep in the North, but still a sweet day!

Likely another foot by the end of the day tomorrow.
Wasatch Back: Plenty of soft slabs and sluffing on Murdochs. Didin't see many bomb blasts (but the blackness may have been covered by fresh snow). The Can. opened Condor, and it was absolutely sick. Days like today make me happy to live in P.C.
Good skiing with I.G. and seeing MPPG on the hill.
HEADS UP!
UDOT will be shooting above the highway on the North side of Little Cottonwood Canyon; Road closes at 06:00.
Please stay clear of the North side of the canyon until the road re-opens ~08:30.
Plan accordingly, Thanks.
FYI had good results from the 15:00 mid canyon shoot today: White Pine Chutes, White Pine and Little Pine.
Doubling up.
Just found out Argenta is in the mix too.
Will try to shoot at some point tomorrow with an est. 15 minute closure in the mid-canyon.
Please stay clear of Argenta tomorrow.
Thanks again.
dammit...just got a text looks like LCC is closing at 10:00 pm now.
The snowpack is not shitting the bed...
Speaking of slides on Cascade, this lovely debris pile just came off the NW Couloir. I would have loved to see this thing come roaring off that 1000 ft cliff.

A chute on the southern end of the west face of Timp also had an impressive slide.

That could really mess up a picnic.....But on the bright side, the line is even longer now! Thank you pineapple express.

Chriscam,
I was hoping you wouldn't ask.
Vis is need to do control work on Argenta, so when ever that happens we'll get er done. If there's a skinner going up then we're hosed.
Rained down there anyways.
Start high.
Couldn't do control work today in Argenta due to weather.
Tomorrow is on.
Road will close in the mid canyon at 8:15 we'll have it open again by 8:30.
That's the plan.
Thanks.
Alright, so who is the wise guy?

Stolen signs halt avalanche control work
December 24th, 2010 @ 11:19am
By ksl.com
SALT LAKE COUNTY -- Avalanche control operations were suspended in Big Cottonwood Canyon Friday morning due to stolen signs.
UDOT says someone took the signs alerting people to the control operations and telling them to keep out of the area. Without the warning, it was unsafe for crews to proceed.
The control operations were supposed to begin at 8:30 a.m. Anyone with information about the stolen signs is asked to call police.
a warm wet morning

it's a pretty safe route as long as you stay away from the side walls

high winds forced us to turn back about 700' from the summit

Would hate like hell to fall in one of those, make a mental note: They will not heal quickly.
WTF !!! glides this early in the season? is that normal. ok wot is normal, but in fernie things don't open up til feb-ish. Wot elevation is that?

Headed out millie gate to figure 8. while digging a pit at top a exum or uma guide and legend in his own mind blew by and guinnie pig it for us I'm bummed I missed the figure 8 hop turn skiing of stupid chute:biggrin:
Still had a bit of the wrong side up don't sink the tips density.
Skinned up to tlp to ski a shot off the ridge. A few collapsed in flats.
Noticed a couple dudes doing the alta sidestep below so we broke out the choc expresso beans tea and discussed saftey waiting for them to clear
Got to say was pretty surprised to see them bootering straight up the shot.
I kind of feel bad for making fun of what turned out to be a a spansered rock star, but fuck it I'm just a middle aged ski bum what do I know, but says somethin when the president of local sar is standing next to ya laughing too:fm:
I'm not gonna arm chair qb just write it off to a higher tolerance for risk bigger balls and perhaps a faith in a higher power:wink:
and a mofoing green light on stability of that slope.
Skied well better than fig8 I thought

sounds like you saw some balls shit go down, and up. that boot pack looks ... interesting
i once did the avy report in verse
but lately ive been leaving my balls in my purse
sketchy snowpack, boredom, some douche stealing signs, wonder what will be the next excuse for opting out of a cool tradition.
Saw this off the backside of American Twins yesterday, dunno is it was the work of the powderturds, they were in the area.
