First of all one shouldn't bash others religious beliefs unless they bash yours or get in your face trying to convert you. Then of course they are fair game.
I respect the right of others to hold their own beliefs where faith comes into it but expect them to keep them to themselves. IE don't come into my house and expect me to listen to any young earth creationist crap. It will be listened to with the same respect as your theory that it fine to put your cock on a live 600 v set of terminals while holding a copper grounding wire with sweaty hands.
Evolution is the bio theory of how species are generated and species evolve. It has nothing to do the original creation of life on this planet. Any theories on that can not be proven, in the way that Evolution as a theory has been proven.
So my theory that a alien called Zaphod came to earth and took a dump as he wasn't feeling well is just as valid as intelligent design or old earth creationism. Neither can be proven. Nor can any creation of life theories put forth by the scientific community. However Young earth creationist who think the earth is 15000 old are just full of shit and their theory can be proven wrong. But who wants to talk to them as they are dumber than Zaphod's shit.
Now I just think my theory is cooler :fmicon: because its mine:biggrin: , its based on shit and it has a dumb alien in it. Due to these elements it explains the lack of intelligent life on Earth at least to me.
It also explains why only 18% believe in evolution. Actually it explains a lot of things.
Alien ant farm perhaps.
Maybe the aliens can provide us some insight on our origins.
Zaphod is the shit.
Dude, your alien's named Xenu, and stop stealing scientology's fire, or else I'll see to it that they sue your ass.
(and they will, I promise you!)
Ok, my 2 cents. I lived in Utah for 6 years, 4 of which were up in P-Dog emp housing(2 off seasons in Moab), 1.5 yr down by the U, 6 months in a godforsaken apartment "community" on Highland and Ft Union.
So those were my perspectives, they were rather fluid...my opinion of the whole scene soured as time went on and I spent more time in the Valley.
My first few seasons in Alta, I came down the hill about once a week. Latter Day whaaa? We'd drive down in the dark go to Lone Star or Crown Burger then maybe a movie or Trails and head back up. Little to no contact with the locals, particularly at Trails. I'd read the SL Tribune almost every day, but I felt very removed from what was going on down in the valley.
After I moved down by the U, things started to change. I'd read the paper, and the crazy shit that would get said and argued in the State Legislature started to freak me out. I'd start to see the same names everywhere...big business, local and state gov't...hmm patterns were starting to form. Check out the names on the Brigham Young statue at the "center" of it all...hmmmm eerily familiar.
Luckily I could escape up to I Street and hit perfect dirt jumps in about 5 minutes, and I was still working at the P Dog and skiing everyday. My network of friends from riding and skiing are some of my best friends in the world and offered a bit of community that otherwise seems completely lacking for those not in the church.
I'm not really sure where I'm going with this...but the short of it is that eventually "it" got to me. I was somewhat blissed out initally, the skiing is sooo good, but the more time I spent there as a very culturally and politically aware person I felt a bit stifled.
My fiance got into Law School in Denver and we bolted. She moved to UT for the same reasons I did and had a very similar experience. We were both very ready to go and couldn't be happier here. We live in a great neighborhood, I can ride my bike safely anywhere I need to go and there is a palpable feeling of "normalcy" (sorry I don't know any other way to put it) and community(sans church), similar to where I grew up and lived before.
Yes, I'm at least an hour away from skiing that at its best is a mediocre Alta day, and I70 fucking sucks. But I can ski during the week, plus, I'm kind of over it. 6 100 day seasons, I've had my fill. Plus the mtn biking in Colorado kills the Wasatch, thats more my scene now, anyhow.
Given all that, I don't hesistate to tell people who are looking for places to ski for a season or two to go to Utah. Those first couple years in LCC, it doesn't matter what state you are in.
Oh yeah, 8 months in CO, and I still get a kick out of riding my bike to 1 of 3 conviniently located non-state-owned liquor stores and having an amazing variety of cold beer to choose from. UT liquor stores give me the willies.
So is your Zaphod related to this guys?Quote:

They will probably have more of an issue with my wife's alternate theory , bloody splitter, that yes it was Zaphod but Zaphod was the female of her species and in that species the female was vastly more intelligent than the male. Thus through Zaphod's BM this trait was passed on to the earth. In this theory the dump was covered and hands were washed. In the male theory an explosive shit was taken and got on Zaphod's boots so that he had to walk through a small pond to get the shit off his boots.Quote:

I first heard about this when watching Cosmos many years ago. Primordial soup...something like that...Quote:

So basically there is no difference between String Theory and any other theory trying to explain the Origins of the Universe. Just because some smartypantses from a University came up with it doesn't mean it's any more valid than Genesis.
Speaking of which, it's remarkable how close the Bible's version of the origin of our planet is to the Big Bang theory. First there was light - BANG, then the earth was formed.... etc.
Great post, worth bumping.Quote:

String Theory is based on mathematical models. Genesis?Quote:

I don't know about any of this shit. I just like to ski.
Not according to Kpax.... The universe is continually expanding and compacting like a dry humping dog thrusting you leg.Quote:
