I’m in a Cochise 130, so not much different than your Lange XT130.

Another Cochise 130 here
Dalbello Krypton 130s.
Totally irrelevant here now as I sold my K108s/Pivots this week (unskied) to buy the new Atomic BC 110 (2023’s) and some 4FRNT Ravens.
Was a tough decision. To sell unskied, beautiful, bad-ass skis. But that can happen in a 10-ski quiver.
And I just got 20% off code for 4FRNT on the Ravens + 4-Lock skin system which “allowed” me to lose a bit on the K108s. Plus I sold them to a young guy who just arrived in Whistler from Spain. He was pumped. Karma credit to pass on skis to help a young guy.
Carry on.
Dude, ski your shit. You’re one of the most privileged people in the world and you pretend like life doesn’t matter.
Thanks for hooking up an international patriot. I’m sure he’s stoked.
This is a love/hate convo because we’re all trying to be a part of your hobby of buying and selling skis but it’s clear you also don’t ski them.
Do I care about your Raven review?I want to. I want the raven. But your credibility as a reviewer is dropping fast because you don’t ski new gear.
You buy it. And then you sell it.
Dude. You worked so hard and now you’re losing trust as a reviewer.
Bummer.

Gaijin,
Appreciate you have an opinion about me….based solely on tgr.
I think it takes more balls to publicly admit you bought the wrong ski and then do something about it. I sold some 2022 K108s at a $100 loss to buy 2022 Ravens at 20% off.
The Ravens will get skiied. And reviewed.
PS buy some new bindings for your M102s already.
KC.
Re Gaijin’s comment that I don’t ski my skis….it’s very true that I don’t ski some of the skis that I re-sell. Cause I don’t want those skis? So why ski them.
It’s easier (and more profitable) to sell “never been skied” mint skis, than ones that even have just a few days on them.
I know what I like. K108s would have been a good quiver ski for me (outside my normal style of ski). But expensive to keep just to satisfy my curiosity about -11cm mounted skis.
And the tight, steep terrain we ski is more conducive to my M-Free 99s, E104s, Blanks that have been getting all the use this season.
Plus I do get a rush out of owning cool skis. Ya I know I can seem arrogant about buying this ski, selling that ski….but I’m honest about it.
Life’s way too short to ski skis you don’t want. If I’m not “Hell yeah” when I go to grab a ski, then I get rid of it. The K108 never made me feel like “Hell yeah”? And the opportunity arose to sell them and at the same time pull the trigger on some cheaper Ravens. Read the K108 thread compared to the M-Free discussion in the Dynastar thread. Way more stoke for ripper skis that are maneuverable, like the M-Free.
But I’m still interested in this thread….
And now I’m also interested in driving Gaijin insane.
Re the Ravens. I’ve always been a huge 4FRNT fan. Have owned a Hojis, InThaynes, Devs, MSPs, Rens in the past. Just bought some 2022 Rens with Duke PTs. Ravens have been on my radar since 2016. Have some extra Duke PTs that would fit new Ravens. My CPA firm is called Forefront Consulting Ltd for chrissake! So Gaijin if I deduct the 20% off 4FRNT/Forefront Ravens as advertising expense….I actually made money on that swap.
I do 50-60 ski days a year at Whistler and the Powder Highway. Some years 70-80.
Gaijin, anytime you’re in BC look me up and I’ll ski with you.
Or in front of you.
What is wrong with you…? The guy works hard and earns his money and however he wants to spend it why do you Fing care…? I totally love his passion and his input on this board…. You need to move on and talk to someone…

PS….I do work my ass off. Full-time prof at a university, I own a CPA firm, and do consulting…. I went to school for a shit ton of years to be able to do that.
I gave away an “almost paid off house” in a divorce in 2014. In Vancouver. That house then went up 60%. Everyone’s life can be tough. Do I enjoy quiver building? And can I do it cause she got the house and I kept my cash flow. Yup. My ski gear swapping’ prolly costs $2-$3k per year. I fucking love it.
And then I got re-married to a wicked skier. Who owned a house in North Van.
Which is called karma Gaijin.
Ok back to the K108 thread!
Brutal.
I am so going to give you shit for this. But now isn't the time. It's too long. You spend a lot of text explaining the money in your life. So, I'll go there, kinda.
I'm an alcoholic. It's getting better. I'm working out at a gym daily. But I battle. I have breakdowns. And I throw them at KC. Because I envy him.
Absolutely.
I could do with no M102s at all... and a Raven or Blaze 106 either with CAST to compliment my Ren. K108 is a resort ski. I'm over it. The R99 wins that game.
You gave up a lot, so I'll do the same. I envy you. I've told you that. And that's why I give you shit. SKI YOUR SHIT.
I lost everything in 2019. Not my house, or my wife, or my family, but close. wink wink.
I don't expect you to know about it, but here's a thread during my lowest, because Fuck It-- Linky Link. (No need to bump it.)
So when I tell you to ski your shit, I mean it. You're living the dream. Everyone here is waiting to hear your thoughts on the latest gear. Why? Because we can't fucking afford it. So, stop pretending like it doesn't matter. You're there. So live it. Ski it.
And in the mean time, I'll give you shit because I live in Japan. Nobody gives me shit here. They're all too fucking polite. The biggest cultural aspect I miss from back home is bros giving me shit.
And if you want to know how it's going, google Zozo Stadium April 22, 23, 24. It's just a plug-and-play stadium gig. But maybe it'll grow back to its original goal of winter/summer. If you have no idea what anything means... read again. I have intentionally made this post a bit obscure to foreign readers. Sorry about that. It's the nature of keeping my fucking job.
Now go ski your shit. It matters. Most people can't.
Hey Gaijin,
I quickly read that other linked thread. Sucks man.
Go ahead and give me shit.
And I’ll continue buying new skis each year and re-selling some that I change my mind on. The shit I keep will definitely get skied.
Hope things work out in April.
KC
We all know there is only one solution to this.
Ski off.
Bushwhacka will give $1,000 to whoever can ski in Vermont with a fixed seat post.
Let it be so.
Yeah, but get them mounted and then sell them before ever skiing them to use some MSP 107s instead.
Today I skied my k108 and some 2021 faction candide 5.0 (full reverse/flat camber with much more rocker) in conditions including: predictable wind sift, horrible breakable punchy wind slab, cut up powder, stashes of fresh powder, tight trees, and groomers.
I found the k108 the same or easier to ski, and as good or better than the candide in all conditions except the few softest patches of snow, and maybe a little in the tight trees... but even there the katana didn't give up much.
Still need to play with the mount on the 5.0 and get used to them (including some more detuning) but I never had to do that on the more intuitive k108 that has just worked from the first run.
Let my buddy ski my 184 Katana K108’s today and my 192 Dynastar MFree108’s. He loved both but preferred the limitless stability Katana.
Here’s evidence of the gathering (those are M102’s in the middle).

So far I have converted my son to M102’s and my two ski buddies to K108’s.

Considering replacing my 182 M-Free 108s with some K108s, as I want a bit more hard snow performance and stability.
What length should I be looking at, 177 or 184?
I am 6' and 150 lbs. Do the K108s ski long considering their stoutness? I am used to skis in the 184 range, but am thinking the 177 might be nice in tighter spots, and still hold up since they are stiff. Or am I overthinking this and should just go with the 184s?
I own the 192 Mfree108 and 184 &191 Katana K108. The 184 K108 feels like "more" ski than the 192 Mfree108. I skied them back-to-back last Friday for the first time and was amazed how the shorter K108 made the Mfree108 feel even more playful in comparison. So, that difference is probably going to be even more distinct between the 182 Mfree and 184 K108. That being said, the 184 K108 isn't hard to ski. it's just damp and heavy and prefers higher speeds.
My 155 lb/5' 9" ski buddy also skied the 192 MFree108 and 184 K108 back-to-back recently. He initially thought that the 184 K108 was a lot of ski. I swapped him for the 192 Mfree108 and after a few runs he wanted the K108 back and decided to "man up and ski with his weight more forward". Guess what...he now prefers the 184 K108 and wants to buy a pair. It just required a more "attentive" style but the reward was a super stable and damp ride.
Not sure if that helps or confuses the issues further.
G’day. Looking at a pair of Katana 108s. I’m 6ft 210pounds, ski here in NZ. Tossing up between 177 and 184. Don’t have miles of vert to let them run here and dodging people. Thinking 177 may be more appropriate. I see the 177 Volkls measure closer to 179 and 184 measure 183. So not a huge gap. K108 rocker looks shallow enough to ski true to length. Thoughts?? Cheers Nick.
6ft, 210lbs, NZ = 184 if not 191. The 177 should not be on your radar, imo. NZ is very open.
Maybe I'm old. And maybe I'm skilled. But I can't imagine why someone at 6ft/210 would want a 177.
