K2 Mindbender Skis

Rode last years 99 ti today. I kept saying what a fun ski. Conditions were a couple inches fresh to wind drift, dust on crust and groomers. Narrowest ski I’ve ever had. Always said why under 100. Well now I get it. Very damp and stable yet easy and friendly. I got 184 and mounted on the line. I like directional skis with some backbone and like to go fast. So they held up to speed and floated well in the six inch pockets. I could see them as a one two with something like 115 out west. Just easy, quick but also stable.

Thanks for the write up! I bought a pair of 184 2023 99’s on the cheap this summer. I just mounted them the other day and need to get them out on snow soon. Your review has me excited to try them.

Damn. This 99 stoke has me wanting to try them. I really liked the old 108.

With that I just snagged the new 187 116 since they added about 300g per ski which is what I really felt they were lacking. Excited for them to arrive.

Blew a sidewall on my 2021 108ti yesterday (186cm). If anyone has an extra laying around I'd be interested in buying it. Will also post in the single ski thread. Thx.

Have you skier the old/light one ? Do you think it’s still a good option for a sidecountry setup ?

New one is definitely less so. I have not toured before so I wouldn’t be the best advice on this but the new one you can feel the added weight for sure.

thinking of remounting +2cm on my OG 99ti 191cm to make them more fun in tight spaces and in the air.

I went +2 on some 108s and the tail was super punishing. And I’m used to skis with a of tail.

I have been using the old version (lighter) for the last 3 seasons. I had the OG camo/orange and currently have the Ltd retro top sheet . It’s in gear swap now

I took delivery of a pair 182 116Cs today that I plan on mounting at +2. The ski seems super dialed, but move the mount forward a bit for a bit more balance in the ski and to potentially make the tails a bit looser.

Mr Kuch rides his at -3 from center - rec is at -9. Yikes. That being said, he is still behind the center of the camber, so if you are into spinning that might be a good idea.

My pair is a replacement pair for the Dispatch 120s that exploded. Super smooth warrenty process - I am very impressed with how K2 dealt with it locally!

I picked up a pair of the 179cm 2023 K2 Mindbender 108Ti’s from the Last Hunt for $299CDN. They’re back up to $599CDN now.

Straight pull is 178.25cm and rec mount is just over 80 from tail (178.25 / 2 = 89.1 - 80 = -9.1cm

I’m going +1cm due to a short bsl.

I like the looks of the long early rise in the tip.

I have the MB 108ti in 179 and 186 and it's a solid daily driver IMO. Both mounted on the line.

I want something just a bit easier than a Katana 108 …but with not quite the -11cm mount and that still can rip everything, for the “varied” snow conditions we are getting at Whistler this year. eg. last Sat I went from untracked pow, to pow on ice, to pow on ice chunks, to pure ice, then to no pow, then dirt….all in one f’ing run.

My boots are dialed this year (1 size smaller shell, Zipfits in Nordica Strider 120s) and I think that I’m seeming to like further back mounts (at least on some days….don’t tell banditman). As maybe sizing down a shell size I’m more centered in the boot (and on the ski) and so don’t have to mount forward to compensate for a too big shell.

Ya I think these will be perfect at Whistler.

The dirt part was a bit exaggerated….

1st pic - this is “above” the bottom of Red Chair….barely covered.

2nd pic - heading into Frog Hollow off Peak, was nice for 7-10 turns up top and then was iced up underneath, skied into Grand Finale and it was as icy a run as I’ve ever skied.

Got my 108Ti Mindbenders mounted up. May try them this weekend at Whistler though it’s pretty hard packed I hear.

Mounted at +1cm from rec (~ -8.1cm) as I have a short bsl.

Here’s some MB 108Ti rocker pics. The tape shows where the rocker approx. goes to with strap at recommended. Really like the length of the tip and tail rocker. Pretty deep.

These were $299 CDN. Can’t got wrong.

The part I'm surprised about is liking more rearward mounts for you.

Are your new boots the same forward lean angle? Maybe they are less upright resulting in a preference for mount points a bit further back?

Holy crap! The 2023 MB 108Ti mounted at +1cm is a great ski in 6” of new on crust. Great float and they blow through piles of chunder. More coming later….

Hi all, wondering if anyone has a view on sizing for the ‘23 MB99ti between the 184 and 190. I’m having the classic maneuverability vs stability debate. Leaning 184 but as mentioned below, I’m coming off two sizes of Enforcer and might find I want the longer ski moving to a single sheet of metal.

I’m 6’3, 225, skiing mostly CO/UT. High intermediate, probably 60/40 off/on piste. I tend to charge groomers but noodle in trees, and also spend a lot of time skiing slowly with my kids on greens where I aim for every sidehit and switchback “chute” that I find. Boots are Atomic Hawx 130. I’m looking to consolidate a 186 Enforcer 94 and 191 Enforcer 110 into a one ski quiver (will rent fat skis if it dumps). The 94 is a bit too demanding off piste and doesn’t like going slow with the kids, and the 110 feels a bit long in steeper trees and bumps.

I would go longer. I’m much smaller than you (5’7, 165) and ski the 184 without any issues in tight spaces. I think you’ll lose too much stability if you go 184.
