Take with a grain of salt as I never skied the OGs, but I've got some "current" L138s, and they're fabulous. pivot, float, playful, great fun, can turn on a dime, don't have to. In deep untracked, I prefer them to protests and cease and desists (the two other best skis I've skied in the deep).
Only ever skied in deep snow, no idea how tf they do elsewhere, and don't care.
I skied the purple spoon 192 L138s today in a great UT storm cycle and didn't wish I was on anything else. The denser snow was handled well by the bigger tip size and upturn compared to early gen L138s, and the heavier weight helped with getting back to lifts as the open runs got more cut up.
We had minimal crowds and ski on lifts at deer valley for a 16-20in day and on any other shape my legs would have been toast by noon given the work required to ski the denser snow, but the 138s were like bringing a gun to a knife fight today.

The spooned purple 138 is the only Lotus I've skied but they are ridiculously fun IMO. I was a little skeptical about them at first, but everything I've read turns out to be true. In heavy snow they blast through / over anything. Can ski them as fast as I'm able and somehow they don't get thrown around yet they're also easy at slow speeds and quick to pivot. Really cool ski that ended up being a bit more usable than I'd expected.
What's the consensus opinion on the spoon148/150s? Not as well loved as the 138s?

I’ve only been on a Spoon once, but for me they were pretty unwieldy in the skintrack for the minimal payoff in pow performance versus the 138. I also felt the 138 was more manageable in exit tracks or when things with bumped up a bit, but that’s just me. For non-human powered skiing in fresh snow I think they’re amazing.Quote:

imo the spoon is amazing for mechanized skiing, but are not good for human powered. Along with being terrible on ski tracks and side-hilling, and pretty unpredictable in variable snow, they absolutely gobble vert on the down - which is rad, but every run is half as long.Quote:

Pretty much spot on. They are truly incredible in the right conditions. I have toured on them a bunch, including some really big days. But that being said, I’m getting older, and wiser, and have some C132s on order [emoji41]Quote:
