He was cute little guy for sure. I know a guy who hit one a few years ago and the spray took the paint right off his truck- stripped it to the bare metal!

Saw the first Coyote within 20 miles of my house yesterday... like three blocks away hahaha. I've seen a couple farther out and up in the mountains in the past. There's some big patches of wooded areas home to plenty of deer and an occasional black bear passing though so it didn't shock me all that much. Other neighbors have seen them occasionally. Thinning out the feral cat population I guess..
whoa! Thermopolis game warden calls on roping skills to rescue deer

Thermopolis Game Warden Benge Brown’s job duties do not normally include lassoing of any kind but every good Wyoming cowboy knows how to build a loop, right? Recently, however, that’s exactly what Brown did to help out a white-tailed deer that had become entangled by the antlers with another buck.
A landowner west of Thermopolis called Brown to report the two entangled deer. When Brown responded, he found two bucks locked together by the antlers, one deer dragging the other. Unfortunately, one of the deer had already died, presumably due to exhaustion.
With the help of Disease Biologist Eric Maichak, Brown was able to secure the exhausted, but still living deer with a rope while Maichak sawed off the antlers, freeing the animals from one another. The deer was then released.

this made me chuckle. Wyoming traffic jam. and all day long
On Friday, February 8, from approximately 9am to 4pm, US Highway 89 will be temporarily closed between Moose and Moran to move the bison herd to southern winter ranges. If less time is needed to move the bison herd, the temporary closure will be adjusted accordingly. It is also possible that additional time may be needed to move the herd.
Bison can be difficult to move, especially in the snow depths that have accumulated over the past week. Consequently, wildlife managers have decided the best option is to encourage the bison out onto the plowed highway where they can easily walk several miles away from the private land to an area where the animals can find natural forage away from livestock

Can't they just put them in the back of a Subaru Outback and keep them nice and warm?
^ exactly
except a couple wks ago when a local beloved moose got hit by a car and I found myself thinking- "shoot couldn't we somehow splint that leg?" and I realized the wild is only going to get more rare
on a separate note, did I see a post that you might be dropping through our neck of the woods? if so, the timing is excellent- skiing is good and a little snow predicted every day for the next week to 10 day forecast

Witnessed an interesting deer standoff yesterday.
I was looking out my front window across the wheat fields when I noticed a small herd of white tail deer standing in an east/west line facing north. Then from out of the north I saw a herd of mule deer moving towards the white tails in the same east/west formation. When the muleys got within about 100 feet of the white tail they stopped and both herds stood there staring at each other. Suddenly they all turned and took off to the east in parallel lines bolting across the fields.
Strange.
Meanwhile, in Baja...

This reminded me of a similar "schoolyard standoff" in my back yard a couple years ago. Whitetails on the left, muleys on the right. Notice how the whitetail fawns look so clean and neat and the muleys are kinda scrubby looking. I actually think last year I saw a mixed breed buck near the house. Had a big muley rack but a smallish whitetail body. Did not see the tail unfortunately. I know this interbreeding has been documented, but generally they steer clear of each other. I have read that whitetails are actually the dominant ones when it comes to territory, etc. Which is surprising since mule deer are generally bigger.
