Keith answered me really quickly. Looks like good service at Praxis.
I told him I like the Atomic Automatic, but with less tail rocker and a little bit stiffer, so he recommended me going for the 187 GPO, since the 186 atomics don't feel big to me.
Now I have to decide if I go carbon or full fiberglass.
Oh, and what a shame I missed the 20% discount for October :(. Hopefully some promotion will come up soon!
^ its peak sales time...if you left it this late, you'll end up paying top dollar, which in Praxis' case of product and service quality, is a bargain anyway. After a season them you will want another pair anyway and can take advantage of the mid season deals. No point saving $80 to not ride a ski for half season.

I found at snowbird I was skiing chopped up snow the majority of the time and I'd rather ski a stiff ski in pow than a soft ski in chop.
Auvgeek- I should be around during that time and would be interested in a comparison. Let me know as that approaches.
Steveski- I saw your pm, I'm still out of the country but I'm working on figuring things out. And I probably can let you take a few runs on my skis as well, I have a pass at Stevens but may get a few days in elsewhere

So I now have three days on mine. Have to say I'm pretty thrilled with them (disclaimer: haven't skied a wide variety of gear, so "best you know is best you've skied" applies). Day one was corn harvest on the Muir snowfield, railed GS turns quite well with nice edge to edge performance for a 115mm under foot. Day two, laps on Green Valley at Crystal Mountain, 6-8" of good pow over old base. Great float, very stable when laying elevens. Felt a little hooky at times, but that was likely a combo of funky crust + knocking some rust off my legs. Suffered a core shot following my buddies out to the car over 3" of "base," temporarily PTEXed but will need a proper base weld. Day three at Stevens skiing 10" of mashed potatoes, had an absolute blast. Just killed it through cut up sections where my lighter stuff would've gotten thrown around. Even felt great on rain crust at lower elevation. Looking forward to more amazing days on them.

Mounted my 187s at -1.5 cm. Dynafit Vert STs with the toe shimmed 9mm. 5'10" 165lbs.
I will be mounting my 187s with the toe shimmed for radicals as well. I'm a little unsure as to where to mount. Initially I was planning to mount -1 with inserts for radicals and +1 for STH.Quote:

^^Why not use FKS to avoid any hole interference in the heel?
Two reasons probably: 1) picked up the pair of 14 drivers off SAC for a steal. 2) an engineering friend of mine has offered the toe plate and he's an STH guy so his custom plate designs are for that pattern.Quote:

GPO is not as quick but more stable in fall line and much larger sweet spot
Renegade is stupid quick and will make pow into a playground. You will go so fast and will think crap I can't make that turn, yet flick heel and you make turn
Ren is stiffer and rocker is lower
But on groomers Ren is still a lot of fun
Basically very different and get both

Haven't read every page here, but what weights are you getting for the GPO glass vs carbon? I assume the praxis site numbers are for glass.
