yeah, I'll be there for worlds :) PM sent.
Heaven Hill is good stuff. I think had that when I was living in, WA. Have not seen it around here, and forgot about that one.

just found out we have pappy van winkle at the restaurant. it was late after a shift so i cant remember which bottle i saw, but i might have to go on a day off and have a glass of that. we have michters us1 bourbon and rye, both of which are pretty tasty as well.
Can't believe this - my LLS found a bottle of PVW 20 yo for me. Stupid price, but I only live once.
Old Weller Antique/Old Weller 12 are another solid wheater if you like Bernheim's. Probably cheaper too.
Bought another 2 Four Roses limited editions to go with the other two I found. Rotate between it some Van Winkle 12, Elijah Craig 12, Elmer T Lee, the previous mentioned OWA, and Rittenhouse Rye currently. All quality hooch. Passed up some Handy the other day along with a Willett 21 year old. Next purchase will probably be some 2003 Evan Williams Single Barrel.
Had some Bulleit Rye Friday night. Quite tasty. A little later I had something else but can't remember what it was. Doesn't really matter though 'cause it wasn't near as good.
Technically it's "Bernheim Original Straight Wheat Whiskey" - even they don't call it a bourbon. Sounds tasty tho.
Quote:
All straight Bourbon whiskey is distilled from at least 51% corn. Straight wheat whiskey differs as it must be distilled from a mash containing at least 51% soft winter wheat
John Jacob Rye Whiskey makes for an incredibly tasty vieux carre - please discuss.
Maker's is going to drop the proof on their product by 6 points (3% ABV). They say that it won't affect the taste, but that seems pretty much impossible to me. The alcohol is part of the flavor, so I'd expect that changing it will result in a different profile...

Had some Bulleit 10 Year the other day in SF, it's no PVW, but damn good. Now I've just got to find a place I can buy it.
Got some Rock Hill Farm SB and Sherry's Berries for V day. My wife rocks. The RHF tastes like Buffalo Trace on steroids, but in a good way. Not in the aggro back acne way.
Bought Breckenridge Bourbon last week and I really like it. Seems to have a stronger kick than what I'm used to, but has a delicious finish.
OK I just had col eh Taylor. Not bad stuff. What else would be good on that price range? Cruiser?
Which one did you get? They do a couple of different ones at different price points. I've been really digging the Noah's Mill lately. Super rustic style with plenty of leather, tobacco, and spice. Cask strength too...
Found the mother load of Eagle Rare 17, Sazerac 18, and a W.L. Weller at my local shop. Pretty awesome.
Been sipping on some Old Granddad 114 recently. Quality stuff.
Been dippin into the Black Maple Hill lately, man that is some tasty bourbon. Even better is the LLS had a one day bourbon sale and knocked the 750ml down to $49 :eek::eek:
Bought as many bottles as they had, which was 3. Yay me.
Tried that Bernheim at (Old Kentucky Bourbon Bar if you ever find yourself passing through Cincinnati this church of bourbon is just across river in Covington KY, more bourbon in one spot that you've ever seen - and many that you'll never see b/c they don't sell outside KY faceplace page) a while back, tasty stuff despite not being true bourbon. I do like those whiskeys with a bit of wheat for smoothness (Pappy ).
By the way, anyone see the "Off Duty" section of last weekend's Weekend Wall St Journal? Nice 4 page spread all about all things bourbon and a giant picture of Pappy on the cover.
A friend just brought me back some Makers 46, straight from the factory, from his Kentucky road trip. Any good?
I'll tell ya...I do like Elijah Craig. I know it's not a higher end bottle, but it's just got a scent that I really dig and goes down as smooth or smoother as many others...
I've yet to sample PVW...one of these days I'll snag a bottle...
Going to DStill tonight, which is like the Great American Beer Festival for destillers

Nice lineup.
Gotcha. Come on by this afternoon or on Saturday and I'll hook you up with something cool.
